Last March, GMA-7 acquired the rights to remake the top-rating Korean romantic-comedy series My Love From The Star.
The Kapuso network aired the Koreanovela in April 2014 for its The Heart of Asia primetime block and aired it again in 2015.
Starring Kim Soo-Hyun as Matteo Do and Jun Ji Hyun as Steffi Cheon, this dramedy is set during the modern times and 400 years ago during the Joseon Dynasty in Korea.
With the show's success, many of the Kapuso viewers clamored for a Pinoy remake of the hit Koreanovela.
Alden Richards was officially announced as the new Matteo Do by Joyce Bernal who will direct the Philippine version of the Korean drama series.
Direk Joyce told PEP in an interview, "Excited akong simulan itong My Love From The Star. Napanood ko yun, e, maganda ang story at bagay kay Alden yung lead character. Akala ko makakapagbakasyon ako after That’s My Amboy.
"Pero ibinigay nila sa akin agad itong project for Alden. Okay lang, kasi I always look forward na makatrabaho ulit si Alden."
With this confirmation, we listed down several actresses we'd love to play as Steffi Cheon. First on our list was Jennylyn Mercado who was already rumored to have bagged the role.
The Kapuso actress remained tight-lipped on the rumor about being paired with Alden in a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
However, Jennylyn did admit that she would love to play the role. She said, “Bakit naman hindi, sino ba naman ang aayaw sa ganun kagandang proyekto?”
Jennylyn is yet to renew her exclusive contract with the Kapuso network but there are rumors circulating that the 29-year-old actress/host is set to star in a romantic-comedy project in the third quarter of 2016.
GMA-7 is yet to make an official announcement about this but netizens have been speculating that Jennylyn's new primetime project is the My Love From The Star remake.
