Two new shows returned on ABS-CBN's afternoon block: Minute To Win It hosted by Luis Manzano and PBB Vietnam: Ang Mga Kwento Ng Housemates hosted by Toni Gonzaga, Mariel Rodriguez, Bianca Gonzales, and Robi Domingo.
The Kapamilya shows aired their pilot episodes last Monday, July 18.
Minute To Win It and PBB Vietnam Ang Mga Kwento Ng Housemates were pitted against GMA-7's afternoon game show Wowowin hosted by Willie Revillame.
MINUTE TO WIN IT. The Kapamilya game show Minute To Win It returns with a new format and more exciting challenges. This time the Kapamilya show went for the "Last Man Standing" edition where 7 contestants will battle it out to win the jackpot prize.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, Minute To Win It will trim down seven contestants down to the remaining two. These two will return on Tuesday and Thursday for the Head-To-Head challenge for a chance to win the jackpot prize of P1 million. The Tuesday and Thursday winners will go for another round of Head-To-Head challenges on Friday for a second chance to win the jackpot prize.
The pilot episode welcomed its first set of celebrity contestants including Richard Yap, Melai Cantiveros, Eric Nicolas, Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador, Kapamilya player Marjan Nassiri and Coleen Garcia. In the end, Echo was declared the winner after winning the challenges against Eric.
PBB VIETNAM. The pilot episode of PBB Vietnam: Ang Mga Kwento Ng Housemates showed a recap of highlights from the reality show's first week back on primetime.
This season, Pinoy Big Brother will be held in Vietnam, the first time ABS-CBN held this reality show outside the Philippines.
The highlights from last week's episodes include the introduction of the celebrity housemates including Hashtag members Nikko Natividad and McCoy De Leon, commercial model/actress Elisse Joson, events host/radio DJ Chacha, comedian Nonong Ballinan, Brazilian-Japanese model Hideo Muraoka, The Voice Kids PH season 1 runner-up Juan Karlos Labajo, former FHM cover girl DJ Jinri Park, and dancer/actress Yassi Pressman.
One major revelation from the show was Nikko's admission about having a non-showbiz girlfriend and fathering a one-year-old child.
The 23-year-old Hashtags member expressed how he felt about his son, "Kamukhang kamukha ko po. Lagi kong sinasabi sa sarili ko na yung mga hindi ko naramdaman nung bata ako, ipararamdam ko sa kanya para kahit hindi ko naramdaman, pag naparamdam ko sa kanya, at least parang naramdaman ko na rin po."
Nikko shed tears as he admitted to Kuya, "Sobrang mahal na mahal ko po yung anak ko pati siyempre yung girlfriend ko. Madalas po kaming mag-away kasi bakit daw po tinatago ko sila lalo na po yung anak ko. Nasasaktan daw po siya."
AGB NIELSEN. GMA-7's afternoon game show Wowowin remains as the most-watched program against its new rivals Minute To Win It and PBB Vietnam: Ang Mga Kwento Ng Housemates.
This is according to figures gathered by AGB Nielsen in Urban Luzon areas. Willie Revillame's show got a TV rating of 15.1% in Urban Luzon against PBB Vietnam: Ang Mga Kwento Ng Housemates' 9.2% and Minute To Win It's 10.3%.
KANTAR MEDIA/TNS. However, the Kapamilya shows were able to get higher ratings than GMA's game show nationwide, based on data gathered by Kantar Media/TNS.
PBB Vietnam: Ang Mga Kwento Ng Housemates and Minute To Win It scored 16.8% and 13.9% nationwide, respectively, winning over Wowowin which got 12.8%.
