Badjao Girl and Yakult Girl are now part of the official teen housemates of Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7.
Rita Gaviola is now dubbed Badjao Girl ng Lucena while Kristine Hammond (aka Yakult Girl) is called Sporty Spice ng Binan.
BADJAO GIRL. The 13-year-old Rita Gaviola was photographed begging for alms during the Pahiyas Festival last May. Her life turned around when celebrities and members of society offered them aid after seeing her photo taken by Topher Quinto in Lucban.
Badjao Girl and her family members transferred from one place to another until they reached Quezon province.
According to TV Patrol's report, she was watching the procession of the Pahiyas Festival in Lucban when a photographer took her photos.
"Sobrang saya, hindi na po kami naghihirap," said Rita when asked how their lives changed after her photo became viral. "Hindi na kami pakalat-kalat sa kalye.
"Hindi na kami sumasakay sa mga jeep."
It is said that Badjao Girl lined up for the audition process since it is her dream to become a star.
She idolizes Cristine Reyes-Khatibi who plays Irene in the Kapamilya afternoon series Tubig at Langis.
YAKULT GIRL. Kristine Charlotte Hammond is a volleyball player in Saint Michael's College of Laguna.
She was originally spotted by Kenneth Perry in a public market in Talisay, Batangas. In his Facebook account, he posted the caption: "Kung meron silang Pastillas Girl at kwek-kwek girl, kami dito sa Talisay, Batangas may "Yakult girl", a half-British half-Filipina who's selling yakult at Talisay public market."
In response to her growing popularity back then, Kristine wrote on her Facebook account: "Grabe naman po kayo. hehe Hinay hinay lang po. HAHA. I'm Kristine. Pinsan ko po yung may ari ng yakult stand, every vacation or times na wala namang pasok, tumutulong po ako sa pagtinda ng yakult ng pinsan ko.
"Hindi ko naman po goal na sumikat or what. Gusto ko lang po makatulong. Ibang tao na po yung naglabel sakin as yakult girl. Thank you sa mga nakaka appreciate sakin and nagtatanggol. Sorry naman sa iba yung tingin. Thank you very much sa Pasikatin Yan."
