GMA-7’s comedy-musical show Sunday PinaSaya redefined weekend TV viewing habit by adding comedy to the usual weekend variety shows that immediately got viewers hooked.
Last Wednesday, August 24, a press conference was held to celebrate Sunday PinaSaya’s first anniversary.
Marian Rivera, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Wally Bayola, Barbie Forteza, Julie Anne San Jose, Valeen Montenegro together with the show’s new members—Ruru Madrid, Gladys Guevarra, Mike “Pekto” Nakua, Andre Paras, among others—revealed what makes the show a success.
GMA-7 Primetime Queen Marian Rivera says the love and concern that hosts have for each other are huge factors that make the show click. “Malaking factor na nagtutulungan, nagkakaisa at nagmamahalan kami.”
Ai-Ai delas Alas
Wally explained that the genuine closeness among the cast members is a huge factor. “Off-cam pa lang, backstage, nagba-bonding na kami ng bawat isa,” said the comedian.
Young actress Barbie says the friendship among the hosts, the support, and teamwork do not make work feel like work.
Julie Anne says that they are like one big happy family. She also added, “Ginagawa namin ang lahat para suportahan ang isat-isa at mapaganda ang show.”
Valeen related that she and her colleagues don’t take themselves too seriously. “OK lang pagtawanan ang sarili namin tapos ando’n yung suporta.”
Ruru Madrid said that he loves about the show that everyone is being trained to be good in comedy.
Gladys Guevarra, who is a new member of the show, said that they prepare hard for each show that they perform. “We see to it we rehearse within the day para ma-perfect bago maipakita sa manonood at sisiguraduhin na mae-entertain sila sa gagawin namin.”
Andre Paras said that people behind Sunday PinaSaya have passion for their job. “Yung passion to make people happy and to make people entertain. Never silang naging negative. Always positive.”
Mike “Pekto” Nacua agree with Gladys. “Yung ginagawa namin, lahat po ‘yan, pinaghihirapan namin kaya naging number one ang show.”
Newcomer Kim Michael Last is a witness to the team’s bond. “Thank for making me feel welcome kahit foreigner ako, sa acting at Philippines. You make me feel loved.”
Comedian Ronie “Atak” Arana lauds the people behind the show for coming up with a program that receives positive feedback.
Lovely says being a TV dancer allows her to showcase her talent.
