Viewers had the chance to witness the return of the James Reid-Nadine Lustre love team on ABS-CBN primetime via Till I Met You.
This new Jadine teleserye aired its pilot episode last night, August 29, and featured the back stories of Iris (played by Nadine) and Alejandro/Ali (played by JC Santos).
The episode started with a voiceover of Iris saying what true love is, according to Pinoy love songs.
"Ayon sa Eraserheads, pag gagawin mo ang lahat, pati thesis niya."
However, according to her mother Cassandra (played by Carmina Villarroel), "Mahal mo kapag pinakinggan mo ang puso mo na yun lang ang maririnig mo."
When she was younger, Cassandra was shocked to learn that her boyfriend Nestor (played by Zoren Legaspi) has been cheating on her.
The characters of Pokwang and Angel Aquino are the two other ladies who were fooled by Nestor. As they lament their fate, they form a bond that eventually leads to a lifelong friendship.
Cassandra finds a new man in her life (played by Jay Manalo) but he also cheated on her. He is the biological father of Iris (Nadine's character) but he never saw his daughter since he escaped to Canada.
While growing up, Iris became close to the new man in Cassandra's life, Oliver (Richard Yap).
Iris called the businessman Tito Papa and allowed him to marry her mother. Unfortunately, he passed away and left behind two kids from a previoua relationship: Paolo and Zoey.
Iris grows up to be a hardworking girl who helps her mother Cassandra make decorative boxes for sale. She ended up being the Valedictorian of their batch while her best friend Alejandro (played by JC Santos) became the Salutatorian.
Nicknamed Ali, he becomes her defender while they were growing up.
When they attended the prom together, Ali declared in front of a group of girls that he was the boyfriend of Iris. He even kissed her when she was called "ugly" by other students.
Iris asked Ali why he said that he was her boyfriend. He responded by saying, "Hindi ba pwedeng magkatotoo yun?"
When they were together on the dance floor as the King and Queen of Prom, Iris suddenly heard her heart beat, just as her mother described.
It turns out that Ali would be entering military school, just like his father (played by Robert Sena).
When he couldn't sleep that night, Ali browsed on YouTube and chanced upon a video of Basti (played by James Reid) who looked like his idol James Dean.
