Boy Abunda apologizes to Sandara Park for harsh criticism he gave during her Star Circle Quest stint.

Boy Abunda had the chance to apologize to Sandara Park for the harsh criticism he gave during her Star Circle Quest stint.

The two talked about this during the August 29 episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda where Sandara appeared as a guest.

The K-pop artist had a lot of offers in the past but she only recently agreed to do the ABS-CBN talent search Pinoy Boyband Superstar.

What made her agree to become a judge for this Kapamilya TV show?

"Tama yung timing. Dati, may ginagawa pa ko sa Korea or may tour ako so wala akong time," admitted the member of the K-pop group 2NE1.

"Ngayon, tama yung oras na pumunta ako dito. Dati sa audition program, kinakabahan ako, pressured.

"Pero ito, boy band ang hinahanap namin. Ibang kuwento na yun kasi ako mismo galing sa group."

What are the qualities that she is looking for in a contestant?

"Hinahanap ko ang special something na wala sa iba. Yung X-factor. Appeal. Charisma. Yung magugustuhan ng masa."

She then gave her observations about the contestants she saw on the Kapamilya talent search: "May mga cute. May mga cute na may boses rin."

When asked to choose which is more important: being cute or having a good voice, Sandara admitted, "Ang hirap. Actually, hindi yun important. Kahit hindo ka cute or hindi ka magaling.

"I think importante yung may appeal ka kasi you can practice naman. You can improve."

A talent of YG Entertainment, Sandara says some K-pop artists spend six to ten years training in order to become a total performer.

The 2NE1 member reveals she spent two years training in Korea.

Does she have plans of staying in the Philippines for good?

"Babalik sa Korea, and going back to Korea – back and forth. Dahil sa Pinoy Boyband Superstar, feeling ko mas madalas na yung dating ko dito. Thank you."

Boy Abunda took this opportunity to ask Dara about her judging style and if she would be "mataray" like him.

What comments from Boy struck her while she was a contestant in Star Circle Quest?

It will be recalled that in 2004, the Korean girl became runner-up of Star Circle Quest, which was won by Hero Angeles.

“Sa dami mong sinabi sa akin, parang wala akong masyadong naaalala. Pero yung, ‘wala kang talent’ or ‘binili mo ba yung mga text votes,’ yung mga ganoon yung naalala ko.

Boy Abunda laughed out loud while Dara said with a smile, "Pero alam ko yun, for the rating lang yun.”

The ABS-CBN TV host then told the K-pop star: “Let me take this opportunity to apologize to you, I’m sorry.”

The Pinoy Boyband Superstar judge said she understood why the TV host said those things in the past, “Sinabi mo yun dahil you care for me.”

Boy admitted, “Look at what happened. I was wrong. You became one of the biggest stars in Asia.”
