“The Re-telling ends. And the sequel begins.”

Encantadia director Mark Reyes dropped this hint about GMA-7's epic telefantaserye on his Instagram account earlier today, September 14.

Viewers can now expect the storyline to deviate from the original series that aired in 2005.

Aside from the quote card, he also wrote in the caption, “Brace yourselves. It’s not 2005 anymore.”

This will fufill the promise of producers to do not just a remake of the 2005 telefantasya, but also the sequel of Encantadia’s first chapter.

For this reason, the 2016 version is called a requel (remake + sequel).

It can be recalled that in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last May, Encantadia creator and headwriter Suzette Doctolero said that she conceived this 2016 version as both a remake and a fourth chapter.

“So ang sinabi ko, requel--remake plus book four, pagsasamahin.”

“Tatalunin ko yung Etheria and the book three so it’s book one and book four [na mapapanuod nila].”

Viewers can look forward to seeing the differences of the sequel of Encantadia from the original.

They can also look forward to Alden Richards’s appearance as Mulawin Lakan, as it has not yet been announced when he will be seen in the Kapuso telefantasya.

In recent episodes, a big war is going on as Pirena (Glaiza de Castro) finally showed her true colors and challenged the kingdom of Lireo headed by Reyna Amihan (Kylie Padilla) for the Hathors to conquer the kingdom of Encantadia.
