Billy Crawford did not have second thoughts about being part of KIX's newest original production The Ultimate Brocation.
Who would take down an offer of an all-expense paid trip to Hong Kong for five days, right?
Billy admitted, “Hong Kong is one of my favorite places to visit, in all honesty.
“You know, I've been going back and forth for four years now.
“It's just the best place to be free, let go, and just relax.
“There are so many things to do in Hong Kong,” he told reporters during the show's press conference last November 15.
Although, he has been a frequent tourist in Hong Kong, Billy was surprised to know that this place is more than a popular shopping haven.
He related, “Hong Kong is Hong Kong. As soon as you get there, I love that it's fast-paced.
“It's really not that big but it reminds me of that New York-almost feel.
“When I got to Hong Kong [for Brocation], I actually thought I knew everything.
“But Hong Kong tourism taught me a few new things that I didn't know about.
“I never knew how beautiful the beaches were in Hong Kong.
“If you ask 90 percent of the artists here in the Philippines, when they go vacation in Hong Kong, they just go shopping in Lan Kwai Fong.
“But when I got to experience Hong Kong the way I experienced it because of Brocation, I got to see the different side of Hong Kong.”
The experience left such a good impression on Billy that he joked during the press conference: “You know, the good thing about going to Hong Kong, mas matagal pa tayo sa Edsa kaysa magpunta tayo sa Hong Kong!”
ON WORKING WITH ASIAN CELEBRITIES. Another reason why Billy accepted this TV project was the chance to work with other Asian celebrities.
In The Ultimate Brocation, the Pinoy Boyband Superstar host will explore Hong Kong with award-winning Malaysian hip hop artist SonaOne, Thailand’s “bad boy” DJ and TV host P.K., and Singapore’s maverick chef Bjorn Shen.
Bringing these four strangers together is Hong Kong martial arts movie star Philip Ng, who will join them in this all-expenses-paid trip full of authentic, tailor-made experiences offering the best of his hometown.
“I like meeting new people. I like keeping an open mind,” Billy said.
“When they told me that I'm gonna be with three different strangers...
“At first I was kind of iffy and scared because I have no idea what they think and I have no idea what I'll be doing.
“Then, I said, you know what, I might as well take a chance and get the opportunity for me to get in touch not just by my fellowmen but also people from Southeast Asia and professional at that.
“I was really excited after that.”
As a result, Billy was able to build new friendships at the end of their fun-filled adventures in Hong Kong.
He disclosed, “Until now, we still keep in touch like on a daily basis.
“We always talk to each other, we always joke on each other.
“Whatever we were doing there in Hong Kong, we're still doing.”
MISSING COLEEN. The Ultimate Brocation set three rules for the four celebrity participants: No girlfriend, no kid, and no sleep.
The last two rules were not a problem for Billy. But was he able to follow the first rule?
“It was very difficult,” said Billy.
“In all honesty, I wanted her to experience what I experienced in Brocation.
“But I signed an agreement with KIX that there's no girlfriend, no kids, and no sleeping is optional.”
Billy was grateful that the show allowed them to communicate with their loved ones.
“Araw-araw kong na-miss [si Coleen],” he admitted.
“As in, like 'yong phone bills ko, ibang klase rin ang sinisingil sa akin ngayon.”
To make up for the days he was away from his girlfriend, Billy took Coleen to Hong Kong a week after taping The Ultimate Brocation.
“A week after I came back, bumalik kami ni Coleen sa Hong Kong, I showed her around.
“Mas nakita namin 'yong Hong Kong. Mas nagmayabang ako sa kanya na, 'Uy, marami na akong alam sa Hong Kong.'”
