Liza Soberano, Barbie Forteza are youngest inductees; Kuya Germs AVP experiences glitch at Walk of Fame 2016

Liza Soberano and Barbie Forteza are the youngest among the celebrities who received stars at the Walk of Fame 2016. The induction ceremony was held yesterday, December 1. The project was spearheaded by its founder, the late German "Kuya Germs" Moreno (inset).

Liza Soberano, Barbie Forteza, Jodi Sta. Maria, and 47 other celebrities were the latest inductees to receive their stars at the Walk of Fame.

The induction ceremony was held yesterday, December 1, 2016, at Eastwood City Central Plaza.

This event marks the first time that its founder German Moreno was not present. The starmaker passed away due to cardiac arrest in January 2016.

During the induction ceremony, an audio-visual presentation dedicated to the late Kuya Germs was shown to inductees and guests.

However, a technical difficulty caused the AVP to stop suddenly, focusing the screen on a young photo of Kuya Germs.

Liza Soberano is considered as one of the youngest celebrity-inductees this 2016 for the movie category.

The 18-year-old ABS-CBN actress admitted, “Nervous. I’m excited, it feels like it’s such a big thing. Sayang lang wala si Kuya Germs. I got to meet him before once but we really haven’t gotten the opportunity to speak.

“I don’t know, it feels different that he’s not here. But I’m still happy and I’m very grateful to be given a star.”

GMA-7 teen actress Barbie Forteza, who is also one of the youngest inductees this year, actually found out on Twitter that she will be given her star.

“Two weeks ago, nalaman ko siya through social media. Nalaman ko sa Twitter, tinag ako, siyempre kinonfirm ko kung totoo, tumawag ako sa Artist Center.

“Totoo nga daw and I’m very honored and grateful to be standing with all those veteran actors and actresses. Isa na naman 'tong achievement for me,” admitted Barbie Forteza.

Jodi Sta. Maria, who recently graced the prestigious 2016 International Emmy Awards in New York, was given another achievement that she describes as a “greatest motivator.”

“Nakakatuwa, di ba, na parang finally after ilang years, nabigyan tayo ng star sa Walk of Fame.

“It feels good to be appreciated and to be recognized for the work that you do. This recognition is the greatest motivator,” said Jodi who was nominated in the Emmys for her portrayal of Amor Powers in the Kapamilya teleserye Pangako Sa 'Yo.

Both known for receiving international recognitions this year, Kapuso star Barbie and Kapamilya actress Jodi posed together for a picture.

Shaina Magdayao got her own star for the TV category. Shaina's sister Sheila is the wife of Kuya Germs' son Federico. The Kapamilya star admitted that she feels unworthy of getting her own star.

“I always hear this pero this is my first time to grace the event. Nagpapasalamat ako actually.

“Parang feeling ko kasi I’m unworthy dahil ang dami pa kasing artista sa industriya na hindi pa nabibigyan. So when they told me, sabi ko, ‘Ha?’ To be given my own star is something na hindi ko ever inisip.”

Federico Moreno, son of Kuya Germs and President of the Walk of Fame Foundation, was quoted as saying, "The Walk of Fame Foundation of our dear Kuya Germs is our own small way of continuing his legacy.

"This is one of the best contributions my family and close friends of my father can contribute to the Philippine Entertainment Industry.

"In behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are deeply honored to continue this noble cause."

The Walk of Fame 2016 marks the eleventh year of the project after it was first launched in 2005.
