TV5 President and CEO Chot Reyes on talents leaving the network: "But to be very honest we really let go of the high price, expensive talents. It just a question of economics, this is a business, we have to survive."

Panimulang kuwento ng network executive, “I think the biggest thing is we’ve made a conscious decision as a group to really do different thing na we will… na we are not going to do na ABS-CBN and GMA are doing.

“We do something along their lines, they come back with bigger stars, better productions, better everything kasi expert sila dun, e, so we consciously not do [what they are doing].

“Number 2, the fact that we have crafted a strategy that’s giving the whole organization’s hope... kasi you know, hindi naman lingid sa inyong kaalaman ang problema ng TV5, we kinda lost over the past couple of years.

“We really didn’t know san kami aano, but I think now we have a clearer strategy, definite direction and I think yun ang nagbibigay buhay sa mga tao. So hopefully maka-execute kami in 2017.”

Saad pa ni Sir Chot, “Well, sports is always going to be there because we are the dominant sports network, our digital properties are very, very strong.

"Our news remains to be award-winning, strong. So really we have to do things… entertainment genre.”

Tugon niya, “We have signed Brillante Mendoza to do a whole program, series projects for TV5.

“But more than that yung pangalan ni Brillante, the equity ng pangalan… Brillante Mendoza name brings really signals what we want to happen: to be known as the home of the independent filmmakers, storytellers, producers, directors. So, we’re open to partnerships.”

Dagdag pa ni Reyes, “January, we have a very busy January. Swimsuit competition on the 27th, 29, long gown, January 30 live coronation.”

DIGITAL AND INTERNATIONAL CONTENT.

It brings us very good rating. It comes... very affordable cost, good ratings.”

HOMEGROWN AND LOCAL TALENTS.

Saad pa niya, “No, in fact we really want to look new local talents on all fronts: artista, scriptwriter, behind the camera talents.

“But to be very honest, we really let go of the high price, expensive talents. It just a question of economics, this is a business, we have to survive.”
