Iya Villania and Drew Arellano felt fortunate to be co-hosting GMA-7’s upcoming game show, People Vs. The Stars.
“At least, hindi ko lang siya sa bahay makakasama, pati sa trabaho. So sobrang exciting.
“Also because the concept of the show, ang galling, e. All the more that we’re gonna have so much fun working together,” said Iya.
The 30-year-old TV host/actress admitted that she and husband Drew find it easy trading jokes on cam.
“Natural lang naman. Hindi naman kami nagsasapawan.
“I guess, whether or not you’re husband and wife, I think it’s really something you need to learn to do to be a good host or to be a good co-host—to learn to complement each other.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to interview Iya and Drew at the press launch of People Vs. The Stars, held at the 17th Floor of GMA Network Center, Friday, January 6.
MECHANICS. According to Drew and Iya, the mechanics of the game require celebrity players to choose questions from different categories.
Each question has a corresponding cash prize that celebrity players can take home for every correct answer.
The fun twist of the game primarily comes from seemingly easy but very tricky questions.
If the stars fail to answer any of the questions correctly, the question’s cash value will be given to the televiewers by answering the “People Question of the Week” via SMS.
Celebrity players can win as much as P200,000 for each episode of People Vs. The Stars.
ALDEN’S BARKADA. Asked about taping the show’s pilot episode, Drew and Iya said that they had a blast with celebrity players Alden Richards, Kristoffer Martin, and Derrick Monasterio.
“Maganda na barkada pala sila. We didn’t know that,” said Drew. “So yung chemistry nila on and off cam, talagang laugh trip sila. Natural! So it was a super fun pilot episode.”
Iya added, “Actually, hindi na namin kailangan mag-punchline kasi lahat ng punchline nanggagaling na sa kanila.
“Si Kristoffer, sobrang kulit. Sa barkada nila, kung may clown si Kristoffer yun!”
People Vs. The Stars is slated to air every Sunday, beginning January 15 at 5 p.m. on GMA-7.
