After the successful portrayal of Katrina Halili in GMA-7'snewest drama anthology called Obra comes another Kapuso artist whopromises to take acting and drama to a new level. On September 11, viewers willbe able to judge the versatility of JC De Vera as he takes the spotlight in Obra.
JC, whose real name is John Carlo de Vera, is a homegrowntalent of the Kapuso Network. He started in GMA-7's youth-oriented show Click,have proven over the years that he is more than just a handsome face. Hisversatility in acting has been showcased in various GMA programs likeTelebabad's Babangon Ako't Dururugin Kita, Sine Novela's Pati BaPintig ng Puso and Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig.
JC will prove once more his mantle in acting as he portraysfour daring and provocative roles in four episodes titled "Pretty Boy," "DaddyDearest," "Rehas," and "Liwanag Sa Dilim" directed by the country's premieredirectors namely Joel Lamangan, Maryo J. Delos Reyes, Mac Alejandre, and JunLana.
It is surprising to learn that JC himself suggested that hetake on the role of a macho dancer. He explained: "Gusto kong maging versatile,hindi dahil gusto kong magpa-sexy o mayabang ako dahil maganda ang katawan ko.Sabi sa akin, I can suggest kung anong role ang gusto ko at ito ang naisip ko.I am happy sa naging resulta."
Obra's "Pretty Boy" tells the touching story of a manwho wants to make a decent living but poverty pushed him to the world of machodancing. Then Obra brings to lightthe funny situation of a young man who is about to get married when hediscovers that his father and uncle are gays in "Dearest Daddy." The episode"Rehas," meanwhile, reveals the plight of an innocent inmate who later succumbsto the unjust and wicked culture inside the penitentiary. "Liwanag sa Dilim," on the other hand, isthe story of a disabled person searching for love and miracle.
Reports say that after JC, another female actress, IzaCalzado, will be featured in this weekly show. Watch Obra presents JC DeVera beginning September 11 (Thursday) after GMA-7's Telebabad block.
