Xian Lim’s onscreen chemistry with Bea Alonzo will be put to the test for the first time via ABS-CBN’s primetime soap A Love To Last.
The 27-year-old actor was introduced as a "guest star" in the Kapamilya soap, which started airing three weeks ago.
“Nung una kong nalaman, sabi ko, “Really? Are you guys sure, ako? Is there a script already?’
“Sabi nila, ‘Of course. We start anytime.’ Sabi ko, let’s go!’
“I was really shocked that they considered me.”
A self-confessed fan of the John Lloyd Cruz-Bea Alonzo starrer One More Chance, Xian said that it was really a pleasure to be working with someone he used to watch on the big screen prior to joining showbiz.
Xian elaborated, “I’m so happy to be working with her. Ang tagal ko na siyang gusto kong makatrabaho.
“To be sharing the screen with her is really overwhelming.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Xian at his solo presscon for A Love To Last, held recently at ABS-CBN’s ELJ Building in Quezon City.
WELCOMING VIBE ON THE SET. Asked about his impression of Bea, the 27-year-old actor gushed about how easygoing Bea is off cam.
“First meeting namin, I was walking to the set.
"Siyempre bago ako sumalang, tinignan ko muna siya sa dressing room if I can do a quick hi.
“Sabi niya, ‘Thank you for being part of the show.’
"Sabi ko, ‘Ako nga dapat mag-thank you na I’m here.’
“Kaunting kwentuhan about life. She’s such a big star, but nung nakakwentuhan ko siya, ‘Wow, kalog pala itong taong ito!’”
In A Love To Last, Xian plays the role of Sebastian “Totoy” Cruz, the childhood friend of Andeng (played by Bea) from her hometown of Batangas.
Totoy is set on winning the heart of Andeng now that her engagement to Jerrold (played by Victor Silayan) is off.
Speaking about his character in A Love To Last, Xian explained, “Mahal na talaga niya si Andeng nung mga college days pa. Kaso lang naunahan siya ni Jerrold. But he’s back. He’s doing everything he can to win Andeng.”
Xian admitted that winning over Andeng’s character from her love interest Anton (Ian Veneracion) is going to be a tough challenge.
But truth be told, Xian said that he didn’t have a hard time getting along with Ian as well.
“Kumbaga, parang idol pa siya ng '90s. Hindi pa ako pinapanganak, Ian Veneracion na ‘yan.
“Running joke lang sa set, ‘Grabe, Sir Ian! Bigay-pugay sa haligi ng industriya!’
"Everyone's nice. Everyone welcomed me with a warm embrace," he beamed.
TIMEFRAME OF GUEST APPEARANCE. Xian also told PEP that he was given three weeks' worth of script so far.
Is there a possibility for Xian to be a regular cast member in A Love To Last?
He replied, “Why not? I hope so. It’s such a good story. I don’t know exactly how long yung duration ng character ni Toto. But hopefully, kung ma-extend, why not?”
