Shaina Magdayao, Denise Laurel, JC De Vera, and Carlo Aquino are continuously taping for the upcoming drama series The Better Half.
In fact, the four lead actors just shot a wedding scene for the teleserye last February 6.
The picture also bears their characters's names: Shaina as Camille, Denise as Bianca, Carlo as Marco, and JC as Rafael.
Shaina and JC also went mountain hiking for one of their scenes.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Ginny Monteagudo-Ocampo said that The Better Half is not just an ordinary teleserye.
According to her, the concept of the show can be likened to psychological thriller movies like Fatal Attraction (1987), Gone Girl, or Single White Female (1992).
She explained, "Iba kasi yung timpla niya, e. Medyo edgy. Sexy-thriller, psycho-thriller na ganun yung timpla.
"Think of Fatal Attraction or Gone Girl , parang mga ganun. Iba, kaya hindi ko rin alam. Maganda yung material, happy kami."
Miss Ginny is the business unit head behind the successful daytime programs Be Careful With My Heart (2012), Dugong Buhay (2013), Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita (2015), We Will Survive (2016), and the currently-airing The Greatest Love (TGL).
The Better Half is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, who helmed Be Careful With My Heart and the first few episodes of TGL.
Just like these shows, The Better Half is expected to air in the Kapamilya Gold block. As such, she says her team is doubling its effort to promote a series with an edgier theme.
She admitted, "It's just that hindi ako sure, just like The Greatest Love, kung babagay siya sa hapon. Yun naman lagi, even sa TGL before.
"Supposedly, ang TGL was at 6 p.m., pero sa dami ng revisions na ginawa namin, hindi kami umabot, so napunta siya sa hapon.
"Pero ako naman, dedma ako sa timeslot kasi kahit naman nasaan ka, if you have a beautiful project, panunuorin yan.
"It's just that yung The Better Half, yung challenge is how you promote it para maging appealing sa afternoon viewers."
Just last February 6, The Better Half released a short, 20-second online teaser in black and white grading.
The teaser showed a woman being harassed by a man in bed. She then gets a figurine and slams it on her perpetrator's head.
Without giving away how the story will go, Ginny explained that the new teleserye deals with complex relationships.
The ABS-CBN executive narrated, "Kasi di ba, parang ang ideal lang is ang tendency natin as people, when you have a relationship with someone, you think yun na yung better half para sa 'yo.
"But sometimes, that first relationship just prepares you for that next relationship, na makikita mo yung totoong better half mo.
"Halimbawa, tayong dalawa, yung first, masasaktan ako sa 'yo, or may pagdadaanan ako sa 'yo, which will make me a better person or stronger and more ready for another relationship, which is supposed to be the relationship which will make me find my better half.
"Di ba, apat sila? So, sino ang better half ng sino? Parang ganun yung idea."
Since it deals with relationships between husbands and wives, the audience might think that this is the usual "mistress" stories that they've seen in ages.
However, Ginny said, "Pag inisip mo, it's a usual mistress story or agawan.
"Pero hindi kasi madalas, naiiwan lang kasi siya sa level nang agawan ng mga couples, or ng dalawang tao. Ito kasi, dalawang couples, or apat na tao.
"Pero paano ang next layer? Paano kung naka-build ka na ng family or relationship with this person and find out later on, e, parang hindi pala ito yun?
"May mga collateral damage na may anak o kasal ka na dito, ganyan ganyan, so very complex siya.
"Hindi ko maano kasi baka ma-preempt ko, e. Sayang. Dapat panuorin mo yung pilot. Ang hirap, e!
"Kaya nga hindi ko pa maisip kung paano namin siya gagawan ng teaser nang hindi mape-preempt, but at the same time, may enough curiosity for the audience to watch."
No airing date has been announced for The Better Half, but it is expected to hit TV screens this February 2017.
