(UPDATED) Who would you choose: the best man or the groom?



Bes, ang sakit!

This would probably be your thought after watching the viral Jollibee ad titled "Vow."

The commercial shows a love story with a twist involving a loyal best friend (Mark Joseph Tam) and the woman he loves (Melissa Lauren Atadero). When you reach the ending, you'll probably be a wreck upon seeing the groom (Matthias Rhoads). Directed by Ianco Dela Cruz, "Vow" has garnered over 8 million views on Facebook in a span of 22 hours.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had a chat with Executive Producer Jenny Gapiz regarding the project that has been giving all the #feels on social media.

Here are 4 things to know about the #KuwentongJollibee Valentine series:

1. They started planning for this project as early as December 2016.


As early as December 2016, they started collecting love stories and these were trimmed down to 10 stories. Three were finally chosen and turned into the hugot short films.


2. Who would you choose: the best man or the groom?

Mark Joseph Tam / MJ Tam (the best friend) and Matthias Rhoads (the groom) are both commercial models.







When they shot the ad, the two guys did not know the ending.

Even they were surprised by how it turned out since they were not told the entire story.

"Actually, they didn't know about the ending of the short film because it was slowly unfolding. Kaya nung press con, sinabi nila nagulat sila na ganun ang ending," disclosed Ms. Jenny.


3. The ads are based on true stories.

The ad agency McCann Worldgroup Philippines collected stories from couples that became the basis of the short films.

"Alam nilang gagawing digital films and ise-share ang stories nila online," says Ms. Jenny.

The second installment titled "Crush" shows a persistent admirer (Enrico Cuenca) who expresses his feelings through food and a handwritten note. The shy guy eventually captures the heart of his crush (Ashley Ortega) in this ad directed by Joel Ruiz.


4. The third installment titled "Date" is helmed by an award-winning director.

The new commercial, directed by Pepe Diokno, is expected to be released on February 10.

Direk Pepe is behind the internationally recognized films Engkwentro (2009) and Above the Clouds (2014).

When asked if they plan to expand the short films into full-length movies or even a TV show, Ms. Jenny said, "They have bigger plans for #KuwentongJollibee but I don't want to preempt."

This two-minute-and-thirty-second video is described as follows: "Dahil ang pagmamahal para sa pamilya ay nananatiling buhay sa ating mga puso."
