After six years, ABS-CBN’s original reality talent search Star Circle Quest is making a comeback on television this 2017.
It will be a new segment in the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime.
This was announced during the variety show’s press conference last Tuesday, March 7.
Star Circle Quest, also known by its acronym SCQ, first aired in 2004. It was the televised search for new Star Magic talents, which was known back then as ABS-CBN Talent Center.
In its first edition, Hero Angeles emerged as the Grand Questor while Nash Aguas won the Kids edition.
The first season also discovered talents such as K-Pop sensation Sandara “Dara” Park, drama actors Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo, Michelle Madrigal, and teen actress Sharlene San Pedro.
In the second season dubbed as Star Circle National Teen Quest, Erich Gonzales won as the Grand Questor.
This season allowed Jason Abalos and Arron Villaflor to penetrate showbiz.
The various editions of SCQ were hosted by Luis Manzano, Anne Curtis, and Jodi Sta. Maria.
In 2009, SCQ's kids edition also became a segment of the defunct TV show Ruffa and Ai.
In 2010, another kiddie edition of SCQ was aired every Saturday night with KC Concepcion as host.
SCQ’s kiddie editions paved the way to discover tween stars Bugoy Carino, Izzy Canillo, and Xyriel Manabat.
Teen actress Mika dela Cruz, who is now a part of GMA-7, also began her career through SCQ's kiddie edition.
Aside from SCQ, the segment “Funny One” is also making a comeback in the noontime show.
The “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment is scheduled to hold its grand finals this Saturday, March 11.
The kiddie version of Tawag ng Tanghalan will start airing on Monday, March 13.
