Marian Rivera requested GMA-7 to put her in an episode of the upcoming fantasy series, Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko.
This is what GMA-7 Vice President for Drama Redgie Magno revealed at the press conference of the weekend fantasy series last April 20.
Starring Ms. Gloria Romero and child stars Jillian Ward, David Romero, Chlaui Malayo and Julius Miguel, Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko will premiere on April 30.
Its pilot episode will feature none other than the Kapuso Primetime Queen.
"We believe na yung having Marian on our pilot will do good for the show, because number one, ang lakas din naman ang appeal ni Marian sa mga bata, and then [her] role, makikita mo bagay na bagay sa kanya,” explained Magno.
According to the GMA executive, Marian personally requested to do an episode for the show, and the network management granted her request.
“Nung nalaman niya about the show, sabi [niya], ‘Sana makagawa ako kahit isang episode.’
"So, tamang-tama nung merong script na bagay sa kanya, siya yung kinuha namin and nagbigay siya ng time for this.
"Tapos, kinuha namin siyang pam-pilot ng show.”
In the pilot episode, Marian will portray Gracia, a mentally disabled girl who is forsaken by her older sister and ends up on the streets.
Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko will air after Hay, Bahay, 7:35 p.m., on GMA Sunday Grande.
Will Gracia's story be a happy ending?
The series features stories told by Lola Goreng—played by Gloria Romero—with magic and adventure that aim to teach values and lessons to its young audience.
Directed by Rico Gutierrez, Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko will make use of animation, computer graphics, and puppets.
