It looks like GMA-7's Encantadia will continue to stay on the air.
The confirmation came from Encantadia actor Rocco Nacino earlier today, April 27, in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
In the epic telefantasya, Rocco plays Aquil, the love interest of Sang'gre Danaya, played by Sanya Lopez.
PEP.ph had asked if the Kapuso show was about to end soon, and the actor answered excitedly, "Matagal pa!"
He happily shared that the show might be extended because of its high TV ratings.
Rocco said, "There have been talks na baka mag-extend pa.
"We are extending based on the ratings, which are doing really really good, and people are asking not to cut it.
"We are happy dahil lampas na kami ng one year. We turned one year last April 4."
While the production for this show started on April 2016, its pilot episode was aired July 18, 2016.
Originally intended to air until December 2016, management announced that Encantadia would be extended until February 2017, and again moved the extension date to April 2017.
Is there a possibility this telefantasya will stay for a year or more on the air?
The 30-year-old actor exclaimed, "Sana! Gusto ko yun. Katuwa.
"At saka nakakatuwa na mas malaki ang pagtanggap ng mga tao sa Encantadia ngayon. Iba yung craze, e."
Before the interview, Rocco had a Facebook Live session with PEP.ph, where he was joined by fellow Kapuso actors Mike Tan and Benjamin Alves.
Rocco revealed that more characters are about to enter the primetime series.
"Madami pang papasok na characters and may great war na magaganap soon," he shared.
In Encantadia's recent episodes, major characters in the series were killed one by one.
PEP.ph then asked if his character would be the next one killed.
Rocco pointed out, "Sa totoo lang, sa Encantadia 2005, si Aquil ang unang-unang namatay sa lahat.
"So, masaya ako na this time, maganda yung pagtingin nila sa story ni Danaya at Aquil, at yung conflicts. Kaya ngayon, buhay pa ako! Wala pa, wala pa sa script."
But he teased, "Kakabasa ko lang ng latest script namin kagabi, may mangyayari kay Aquil."
In the original Encantadia, Aquil (played by Alfred Vargas) was killed during the first book's ending. This allowed Danaya (played by Diana Zubiri) to become the rightful queen of Lireo.
However, in this requel, Danaya had already been proclaimed the new queen of Lireo, even if romance had already blossomed between her and Aquil.
Earlier tonight, April 27, the Twitter account of GMA-7's Encantadia posted a photo with the numbers 05.19.17 and provided the caption: "Walang bibitiw."
What does the date May 19, 2017 signify—and will this be the airing of the finale episode of Encantadia?
