Glaiza de Castro admitted that she was the one who brought up the idea of having a leading man in Encantadia.
The GMA-7 actress pointed out to director Mark Reyes that she noticed the bitterness of her character Pirena, especially during the first chapter of the epic telefantasya.
She recalled telling him, "Alam mo Direk, feeling ko kaya ganun si Pirena sa life, wala siyang love team."
Eventually, Pirena was given a love interest: the character of Azulan, played by new GMA-7 actor Marx Topacio.
Marx, who started his acting career in ABS-CBN, is also known as the boyfriend of Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina.
Glaiza then realized, "Tapos biglang meron pala, humabol pa siya."
The 29-year-old actress also had kissing scenes with Marx in the show. "Parang mga dalawa yata, yung isa hindi pa umeere."
Should Encantadiks expect more kissing scenes from her and Marx as Encantadia airs its finale on May 19?
She answered, "Tignan po natin, malamang kasi may mga magbababalik, e. Malay mo, may pa love triangle pa siya!"
Glaiza was referring to the Lirean soldier played by Kapuso actor Ken Alfonso, who was the father of Pirena's daughter Mira (Kate Valdez).
However, after they conceived a baby, Pirena immediately killed Ken's character.
Ken's short appearance became viral and he was even tagged as "ang lalaking sinayang ni Pirena."
Last Monday, May 8, Ken appeared again on Encantadia as an ivtre, whose name was revealed to be Gamiel.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment reporters spoke to Glaiza before the Encantadia thanksgiving event last May 7 at Enchanted Kingdom.
BITTERSWEET FEELING. Since the series is about to end in two weeks, Glaiza admitted she is already feeling separation anxiety.
The Kapuso actress even described the feeling as "bittersweet."
She reasoned out that this is her first teleserye that lasted for almost a year.
Glaiza said, "Siyempre, bittersweet kasi parang first time ko yata na nakatagal ng isang year sa isang soap.
"Parang four, three months [lang dati], never ko na-imagine na aabot kami sa ganito katagal.
"Siyempre, ang dami kong na-experience sa Encantadia na hindi ko na-experience sa past shows ko.
"Parang as an artist, talagang masasabi ko na nag-grow ako dito. Galing sa The Rich Man's Daughter, ang extreme ng ginawa namin ngayon for Enca dahil telefantasya siya, hindi lang siya basta drama.
"Lahat ng preparations namin, it was all worth it. Para kang gagraduate ngayon to another level.
"Ganun yung feeling ko, masaya dahil masaya yung mga experiences na nakuha namin from the show. Pero at the same time, sabi nga ni Direk Mark, it's a show that is hard to let go of."
What added to her separation anxiety was the fact that the cast members and staff of Encantadia started sharing throwback photos on their Viber group chat.
