Angel Locsin reprises her role as Lia in the third installment of the Lobo franchise, La Luna Sangre. Kathryn Bernardo is set to become the franchise's new lead female star.

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla are set to return to television via the fantasy-action series La Luna Sangre.

This will be third installment on the Lobo franchise.

Lobo, which starred Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual as Lyka and Noah, aired in 2008.

Its sequel, Imortal, aired in 2010 with Angel and John Lloyd Cruz playing Lia and Mateo.

La Luna Sangre is set six years after the events of Imortal, and the third installment will begin with the new chapter of  Lia and Mateo's story.

Kathryn said that it was only appropriate for the two seasoned actors to jumpstart the continuation of the fantasy franchise.

She told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), "Thankful ako kasi sila yung magsisimula ng kwento.

"Sila yung may karapatan magstart nito kasi project nila ito, and yung binigay nilang effort na magtaping ng ilang days para dito sobrang masaya kami talaga."

As the new female lead of the series, the 21-year-old actress did confess feeling immense pressure to carry on the legacy of the show after Angel.

Kathryn continued,  "Kasi ang galing niya! Tapos alam natin kung gaano niya kagaling sa fight scenes.

"At the same time, gusto ko rin siya kapag rom-com.

"All-in-one siya, kaya nakakapressure talaga, especially sa action kasi bago yun sa'kin."

PEP caught up with the Kapamilya star at the grand launch of her new business venture at SM The Block in North EDSA last May 27.

Kathryn expressed her excitement to take on her first action role, "Nagte-training kami ngayon ng wushu, kasi binasa ko yung script puro fight scenes siya.

"So, hindi ko alam kung paano siya mangyayari, but then masasabi ko na ako mismo nung binabasa ko yung script, sobrang na-excite ako.

"As in, hindi ko siya tinigilan kahapon hangga't natapos yung first week na 'yon.

The newly-named Box Office Queen also placed great trust on the series' director, Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina, that she would do justice to the story.

"Of course, it's gonna be directed by Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina, and never naman tayo ina-upset.

"We're happy na siya yung director."

Kathryn teased that the series' air date will be announced soon, "Malapit na talaga!

"Iaannounce na siya soon, kaya konting-konting hintay na lang."
