Angel Locsin said that there’s no need for Kathryn to feel “extra pressure” in proving her worth as the female lead star of La Luna Sangre.
ABS-CBN’s newest drama-action series is the third installment following Imortal (2010), starring Angel and John Lloyd Cruz, and Lobo (2008), starring Angel and Piolo Pascual.
“Huwag naman. ‘Wag naman. Sa age nila ang dami na nilang na-achieve talaga. Kaya ‘wag naman,” said Angel, referring to Kathryn and Daniel Padilla who are headlining the newest installment.
Angel gave this statement during the grand presscon of La Luna Sangre held at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theater last Tuesday night, June 6.
There it was mentioned that Angel's dramatic performance in Lobo merited a best actress nomination at the 37th International Emmy Awards in 2009.
Just last week, Angel exchanged messages with a netizen who doesn’t like Kathryn as the new female lead star of a teleserye franchise previously headlined by the former.
Angel was not asked about the said issue at the La Luna Sangre presscon.
However, the 32-year-old actress did mention that she’s confident that Kathryn can carry out the action-packed scenes required of her character.
Angel said, “Wala ako sa posisyon mag-advice, but base sa mga nakikita kong ginawa naming eksena sa trailer, nakita ko yung porma nila…
“So, I’m very happy na isu-surrender namin itong next project sa kanila na tingin namin hihigitan pa nila yung nagawa namin sa Lobo at Imortal.”
Angel went on to say that she’s also excited to see how Daniel will tackle his action scenes.
“Kay Daniel naman, excited ako makita siya sa fight scenes kasi idol ko yung tito niya pagdating sa fight scenes naman.”
Angel was referring to Daniel’s uncle Robin Padilla, who was her leading man for GMA-7’s 2007 action-drama series Asian Treasures.
She continued, “At maraming naituro sa akin [si Robin].
“Kaya parang hindi naman ako magtataka kung magpakitang gilas din siya [Daniel] dito pagdating sa fight scenes.”
As for her pointers for Kathryn and Daniel, Angel said, “Basta mag-ingat lang kayo. ‘Wag niyo i-asa yung safety niyo sa ibang tao.
“Yun ang unang-unang priority niyo. Alagaan ninyo ang safety niyo.
“At good luck. Sobrang excited ako para sa inyo. Ang ganda ng mga pinakita niyo.”
Angel will appear in the pilot week of La Luna Sangre, airing on ABS-CBN primetime block on June 19.
