Did Encantadia director Mark Reyes throw shade at ABS-CBN's new fantasy series La Luna Sangre?
The director posted on Instagram earlier today, June 21, a photo collage of Encantadia cast members from the 2005 and the 2016 version.
His text overlaid on the photo indicated: "Sang'gre since 2006 Huwag nga Kayo!"
He wrote in the caption that accompanied the photo: "Excuse us? #wewerefirstduh #encantadia #encantadialegacy"
The director, who also helmed most of GMA-7's record-breaking shows such as TGIS and The Half Sisters, did not mention any names nor did he identify what triggered his post.
Netizens who commented on Direk Mark's Instagram account were quick to link his post to La Luna Sangre, which is topbilled by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. This new fantaserye also features Angel Locsin, John Lloyd Cruz, and Kapuso-turned-Kapamilya talent Richard Gutierrez.
Even Encantadia 2016 cast members Klea Pineda, Pancho Magno, Rocco Nacino, James Teng, and Carlo Gonzalez commented on Direk Mark's post.
In the past, fan wars have been happening between Encantadia and La Luna Sangre supporters, with one party accusing the other as a copycat.
La Luna Sangre, which is a continuation of Angel Locsin's Lobo (2008) and Imortal (2010-2011), was first announced to the public during a trade launch in November 2016. Its pilot episode aired last Monday, June 19.
According to Star Creatives, the unit which produces the Kapamilya show, "Luna" means moon while "Sangre" is the Spanish term for blood.
Meanwhile, Encantadia takes its roots from the 2004 Kapuso telefantasya Mulawin. At that time, the word "Sang'gre" was not yet used.
Encantadia became a full-length drama series that first aired in May 2, 2005. The Nchan word "Sang'gre" was introduced back then to refer to diwatas with royal blood.
Encantadia started airing its requel (remake and sequel) on July 18, 2016 with the finale airing on May 19, 2017.
