How did My Love From The Star director Joyce Bernal react to the pilot week of their show's new rival, La Luna Sangre?
“Naku, dinedma na lang namin,” she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters in an interview after the press conference of Kita Kita.
She added in jest, “Bahala na si God. May vigil kami mamaya.”
The movie and TV director admitted she never really gets to watch rivals of her shows.
In fact, she confessed, “Hindi ako nanonood ng soap ko at saka soap [ng iba].
“Hindi ako nanonood ng TV masyado. CNN ang pinapanood ko, e, ang tanda!”
Direk Joyce believes that TV ratings competition should not be a concern of a director.
“Problema ng network ang ratings. Hindi ko talaga siya problema,” she said.
Instead of worrying about the ratings, Direk Joyce wants to give her full attention to the actors of My Love From The Star.
“Ang gusto ko lang, maayos ko yung My Love From The Star, maayos ko si Gil [Cuerva], maayos ko si Jennylyn [Jennylyn].
She also clarified, “Ano naman, parang ganun naman ang competition.
“Yung unang nakatapat namin, kaibigan ko si Bela [Padilla]. Wala namang competition.”
Prior to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's new TV series, My Love From The Star was in the same primetime slot with My Dear Heart. Its lead stars are Bela Padilla, Zanjoe Marudo, Coney Reyes and newbie child star Nayomi Ramos.
In the end, Direk Joyce revealed their main goal for the local adaptation of the hit Koreanovela, “Ang goal talaga namin ay malagpasan ang telenovela. Para kapag hindi umabot, at least, quits kami.”
My Love From The Star's pilot episode aired on May 29. According to Direk Joyce, it will only run for 11 weeks.
