Ms. Charo Santos Concio was seen briefly in the July 14 episode of La Luna Sangre.
Even though only her photo was flashed onscreen, a lot of netizens reacted causing Ma'am Charo to become a Trending Topic on Twitter.
In the latest episode of the Daniel Padilla-Kathryn Bernardo starrer, Albert Martinez introduced himself as Professor Theodore Montemayor.
As the head of the Moonchasers, Professor T has dedicated his life to studying everything about vampires.
He revealed that vampires are already in positions of power in government and the private sector.
When he mentioned that one vampire is a "isang kilalang Senator," Professor T showed a picture of Ma'am Charo. This prompted one to quip, "Kaya pala ang tagal na ng show niya sa TV."
In real life, Ma'am Charo hosts ABS-CBN's drama anthology show Maalaala Mo Kaya that has been airing for the 26 years.
In her Instagram account, Ma'am Charo made light of her appearance by posting her photo with Piolo Pascual and John Lloyd Cruz.
She wrote the caption: "Confirmed!! Ginawa po akong bampira ni Mateo sa harap ni Noah!! #LaLunaSangre #LaLunaSangreMiyo #throwback"
Mateo refers to the vampire character of John Lloyd in Imortal while Noah is the character played by Piolo in Lobo.
UPCOMING MOVIE. In a recent interview, Ma'am Charo revealed details about her new movie.
She will portray the role of a German-speaking OFW nanny in her new film with award-winning director Lav Diaz.
Speaking as the Brand Ambassador of Sun Life Philippines’ new product Sun Smarter Life, a traditional life insurance product specially designed for retirees, the retired ABS-CBN executive revealed that eighty percent of the film will be shot in Singapore but the film’s story will begin in Frankfurt, Germany.
“[Lav Diaz and I] already met. We had a discussion about the character. I’m going to meet with some OFW mothers. He wants me to learn to speak German,” the ABS-CBN executive told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters.
“It starts in Frankfurt. I work for a German couple. I was a nanny to the child of a German couple. So talagang mag-aaral ako [ng German].”
She also mentioned that Shaina Magdayao and Hazel Orencio are two of her co-stars in this Lav Diaz film.
In the past, ABS-CBN's Chief Content Officer said her film with Lav Diaz will depict the hardships of younger Overseas Filipino Workers. Her character will be forced to come home to bury her son but her flight was delayed causing her to stay in Singapore airport and meet fellow OFWs.
This will be her second Lav Diaz film after doing the 2016 movie Ang Babaeng Humayo, a Golden Lion winner in the prestigious 73rd Venice Film Festival.
Now 62 years old, Ma'am Charo shows no signs of stopping. The Maalaala Mo Kaya host explains, “No one really retires. It’s a new life. There’s a lot of new adventures I’m discovering.”
Even though she has been retired for two years from ABS-CBN, she hopes to inspire her fellow retirees to look at the brighter side of life.
“I have been retired for two years now. It’s an entirely new world I’m discovering.
“Let’s just be happy. Huwag nating tingnan yung mabigat, tingnan natin yung maganda. It’s always a matter of perspective, always a matter of choice. It’s always our choice to be happy.”
Since retiring, Ms Concio has parasailed in Boracay, completed three paintings, took up yoga, and has learned how to swim, float, and do the backstroke.
“Takot ako sa tubig pero I took up swimming lessons. I shifted to painting because malamig ang tubig.
“It’s not about being an expert in anything, it’s about conquering my fears.”
