Team Lea’s Mica, Team Sarah’s Jona, Kamp Kawayan’s Isabela, and Team Sharon’s Jeremy will compete in the grand finals of The Voice Teens.
One of them will be named as the first-ever grand champion in the Philippines and in Asia this Saturday and Sunday (July 29 and 30).
The winner of the ABS-CBN reality singing competition will take home a fashion package, a business package, a dental service package, P1 million cash, P1 million worth of trust fund, P2 million life insurance plan, and a brand new house and lot.
Last July 22, semi-finalists from Team Sarah and FamiLea participated first.
TEAM SARAH. "Birthday girl" Nisha Bedana of Team Sarah was first in line and gave a lovely rendition of the song "Can't Take That Away From Me."
The Popstar Princess commented, "Sobrang bow ako sa 'yo Nisha. Ang galing mo. Perfect ang performance mo tonight. I love you and congratulations!"
The second performer was Davao lass Jona Soquite who gave an astonishing, strong vocal performance of the song "Greatest Love of All."
After Jona's song ended, singer-actress Sarah pointed out, "Wala akong masabi...it's always magic when you sing."
Public voting via text and online was done after each performance. Coach votes were also considered.
After the combined votes, Team Sarah's Jona garnered a score of 98.50% while Nisha only received 60.10% of the votes.
Fourteen-year-old four-chair turner Jona Soquite has been seasoned by singing contests. Driven by her dream to provide a new home for her family who lives by a river, she will use everything her singer father and Coach Sarah have taught her in order to win.
The youngest artist in the competition, Jona has already shown she does not back down from any challenge by performing songs that showcase her versatility.
The Tabing Ilog Sweetheart of Davao has also consistently received praises for her heartfelt singing.
TEAM LEA. Chan Millanes of FamiLea sang next and gave a lovely interpretation of "A Song For You."
Coach Lea gushed, "That was perfection! That was beautiful! That was hearfelt! That was everything that we asked for, you did!"
Seventeen-year-old Mica Becerro sweetly rendered the song "Loving You."
Like a proud parent, Coach Lea excitedly said, "Wala akong talagang masabi. Ang galing mo lang talaga.... You showed pop by a classically-trained singer. Maganda! Ang linis! Naku, mahihirapan ako nito."
For FamiLea, Mica took the huge lead of 97.50%. Chan, on the other hand, got 68.83% of votes.
Mica Bicerro already impressed viewers and netizens during her blind audition, which has now reached 9.8 million views, the highest among the teen artists the season. Fearless and not afraid to take risks, Mica wants to inspire young people to try other music genres.
Known for her operatic singing, the Soprano Girl of Surigao del Norte has also proven she can make any song her own by performing popular tunes.
The second semi-finals night saw in action Teams Sharon and Kawayan.
TEAM SHARON. Jeremy Glinoga of Team Sharon gave a stirring performance as he played the piano during the first part of "Sign of The Times."
The Megastar praised him by saying, "You owned that stage tonight. I'm so proud of you! You gave me everything I asked for. I am so darn proud of you! And it is true. I believe at the bottom of heart, you belong up there, win or lose!"
Next in line was Christy Lagapa who tried her best to sing "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" with so much passion.
Coach Sharon proudly said, "Christy, you did everything I told you to do. You really put out your heart into the song. In the end, there was something but that is negligible. I'm just so honored to have the chance to coach you. And I am so proud to what you have done tonight. So proud of you!"
After the performances, the verdict came out for Team Sharon: Jeremy Glinoga scored 99% over Christy with 90.59%.
Coach Sharon is betting on Jeremy Glinoga to become the first The Voice champion to come from her team. Although raised in the United States, the Charming Cutie of California shows his love for OPM music through his song choices.
KAMP KAWAYAN. Emarjhun de Guzman of Team Bamboo performed "Butterfly" with so much emotion.
Coach Bamboo commended him by saying, "I'm so proud of you....ang ganda ng ginawa mo! You are so soulful! You are you. May magic ka talaga. Once you are on that stage, you turn it on. Congratulations!"
Performing last was Isabela "Lala" Vinzon who gave a splendid interpretation of "You and I" by Lady Gaga.
Host Toni observed, "May napatayong coach: si Coach Lea." The Broadway star, who previously defended Isabela from online bashers, stressed: "Talk about seizing the moment! That might be my favorite performance of tonight. And to all her bashers on the internet, #asinpamore!"
Rockstar icon Coach Bamboo declared, "Who's back in town? That was the Lala show. You owned that moment. You owned this stage tonight... It's been a difficult week. Let's leave a positive tone on how to do our work and just black out the noise."
The daughter of actor Roi Vinzon bested co-semifinalist EmerJhun with a score of 96.5%. The latter only received 77.46%.
Isabela Vinzon has faced online bullying since joining the show for being a celebrity daughter. The Spunky Singing Beauty of Pampanga even defended herself and revealed that she lined up along with thousands of teen aspirants during the show’s auditions in Manila.
Finalists Mica Bicerro (Team Lea), Joan Soquite (Team Sarah), Jeremy Glinoga (Team Sharon) and Isabela Vinzon (Kamp Kawayan) will now represent their respective teams in the grand finals this weekend.
All four grand finalists will perform in three rounds: a duet with their coach, an upbeat performance, and a power ballad that will be their finale song.
Votes from the public will determine the grand winner.
PEPsters, who do you think will emerge as the grand champion of The Voice Teens?
