Jona Soquite of Team Sarah named as first winner of The Voice Teens

Jona Soquite of Team Sarah is the first The Voice Teens Champion.

Jona Soquite of Team Sarah is named as the first ever The Voice Teens Champion!

With a score of 44.78%, Jona was able to beat Mica Bercerro, Isabela Vinzon and Jeremy Glinoga in the final tilt of The Voice Teens Philippines.

Isabella got a score of 22.42%, Mica got 17.79% while Jeremy got 15.01%.

As the first The Voice Teens winner, Jona received a brand new house and lot, a business package, a dental service package, P1 million cash, a P1 million trust fund, a P2 million life insurance plan, and a fashion package.

Host Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano explained the mechanics of the final competition. The competition is divided into three rounds. The first round is a duet of the finalist and coach. This was followed by a solo upbeat performance. The last round is a power ballad, which aired earlier tonight, July 30.

The hosts stressed that only public voting via text or online shall be counted. The finalist who garners the highest turnout of votes is automatically declared the winner.

Opening the first round is a high energy, rockin' performance of the song "Kapayaan" from Team Kawayan: Isabela Vinzon and Coach Bamboo. The voices of rock icon Bamboo and female rocker Isabela merged like yin and yang.

Coach Sharon observed, "Si Coach tinuruan ng rock pero alam mong babae pa rin ang dating. Mas gusto ko pa ng may konti pang energy like kay Coach Bamboo but on the other hand, tamang-tama lang kasi babae siya na nag ro-rock. Kita mo yung contrast."

"Wow! That was a great way to start this grand finals! Lala you are one of my favorites! Ang galing mo lang. You stayed true to yourself" was Coach Lea's comment.

Coach Sarah said "Grabe lang, iba talaga ang experience pag nagpe-perform si coach bamboo. Iba din ang ibinigay mong experience Lala. Very contrast kayo. Maraming-maraming salamat for singing that beautiful song!"

Next in line is Team Sharon and Jeremy Glinoga who gave a fresh spin to the song “I’ll Never Love This Way Again.” On their performance, Coach Lea pointed out, "That was lovely. That was pleasant. I just don’t know if that if it was smack on the face for grand finals though. For it was lovely, but I wanted more!”

Sarah found the duet "sincere." "Napakasincere ng performance in Coach Sharon and Jeremy. Jeremy, a very talented young man, surely you will go a long, long way!"

For Bamboo, he didn't want to be critical. "Di ko kayang masyadong maging critical coz I know we’ve worked so hard on all of this. Good luck on the journey, man! Go for the gold!"

After Kamp Kawayan’s act, the angelic blending of Team Familea of Lea Salonga and Mica Bercerro for "The Prayer" won the hearts and minds of the audience and fellow coaches. "Wow what a performance from coach Lea and Mica!" exclaimed host Toni Gonzaga.

Coach Sarah was moved by the performance. "Grabe! Gusto kong maiyak after ng performance ninyo at sobra akong maiinggit kasi perfect as always. Si Mica naman, wala akong maisip na ibang artist who will best represent Team Lea."

Bamboo was equally impressed. "What a performance! I just love Italian! That was just beautiful and you guys complimented each other did so much for it…."

When asked her opinion, the Megastar observed, "Ako kanina pa, gusto kong maki-trio! Inis na inis ako kahit nasa third voice ako. Back up back down you know. Coach Lea kasi complementing the voice of Mica. But Mica on your own, that was a beautiful classical performance!"

Completing the duet performance was Coach Sarah and Jona Soquite who gave a powerful interpretation of "Better Days."

Host Luis Manzano was moved by their performance. "Wow! Wow! Wow kayong dalawa!"

Coach Bamboo shared the same sentiments. "Wow as well. Great song choice. I enjoyed watching this! Coach Sarah I’ve never seen you sing a song like this that was nice and sweet. And Jona, your clean deliver pag kumakanta that is always your strength" said the rock icon.

"This is also one of my favorite songs. I should’ve sung it tonight. I wanted to join there kanina. I want to slap my face! Very good, Jona! Very good!" quipped the Megastar.

Coach Lea was also blown away. "Wow! I will use a word na ginagamit ni Luis. Petmalu! Malupet! Ang galing! Jona, kitang-kita yung development as an artist dito sa The Voice and you came to play! You came to play and that was awesome!"

After the "Duet" round, the solo upbeat performances round was next.

Jeremy of Team Sharon was first in line and gave a fresh rendition of "Superstition."

After his act, Kamp Kawayan's Isabela gave a sexy performance of the song "Despacito."

Third to perform with a lot of energy is Jona of Team Sarah who picked “Last Dance” Lady Gaga.

Last but not the least is Mica Bercerro of Familea, who gave her own version of “Diva Dance” by the Fifth Element.

In the final power ballad round, Jona gave a powerful rendition of “I Believe I Can Fly.”

Mica gave her rendition of “Time To Say Goodbye,” Isabella went with “Rise Up,” and Jeremy serenaded the audience with “Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita.”
