Heart Evangelista shed tears during the press conference of My Korean Jagiya on August 14. The GMA-7 actress felt overwhelmed by this new teleserye that coincided with her 19th anniversary in showbiz.

Heart Evangelista became emotional when she gave a message during the press conference of My Korean Jagiya last August 14.

My Korean Jagiya is Heart's new teleserye on GMA-7 where she is paired with former U-Kiss member Alexander Lee.

According to the Kapuso actress, she felt overwhelmed upon being given this new teleserye.

She said in her speech, "Sobrang salamat, sobrang grabe yung pag-alaga nila sa aming lahat and sa lahat ng cast, sobrang umpisa pa lang kami pero ang saya saya ng staff.

"Actually, naooverwhelm ako kasi it's such a nice project..."

Heart's voice cracked and laughed when she was about to cry. "Naiyak na, e!"

She continued, "It's so nice and it's just so nice and too you know, to be given this opportunity, salamat talaga, sobra.

"We also chose a really good man, sobrang bait nilang lahat, sobra. Salamat sa GMA! Fighting!"

During her interview with reporters, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Heart why she suddenly got emotional.

The 32-year-old TV personality said, "I'm just overwhelmed because it's not all the time na mabigyan ka ng maraming pagkakataon sa buhay and being in showbiz is not easy.

"They pay you well, yes. But emotionally, sometimes it can get draining especially when a lot of people don’t even know you and judge you when they don’t even know half of what you're doing when the cameras are not rolling.

"To be given this soap na may international pa na Koreans, wow di ba? I mean, thank you talaga, so na-o-overwhelm ako."

This show, which premieres on August 21, coincides with Heart's 19th anniversary in show business that is why she considers this as a "sobrang special" project.

Prior to My Korean Jagiya, Heart was also part of the fantasy-series Mulawin vs. Ravena, wherein she played the role of Alwina. This character was first portrayed by Angel Locsin in the 2004 telefantasya.

However, in the show's fifth week on air, Alwina was killed in the series.

According to the Philippine TV's Sweetheart, Alwina's death in the show will pave the way for the younger cast to get their share in the limelight.

She answered, "That was actually the deal, they got me [in My Korean Jagiya] because it was actually their way of launching the younger ones.

"So Alwina wasn't meant to stay. In fact, ayoko na nga mamatay kasi na-attach na ako sa kanya, e! But she wasn't meant to stay."

ALEXANDER LEE. As for her new leading man Alexander Lee, Heart praised him by saying, "You know, he's a very nice guy, he's very conservative, very humble, and he was very very shy.

"For me, I want him to feel comfortable as much as possible so for me, it was very natural and it's work so gina-guide ko na lang siya."

As seen in the audio-visual presentation showed during the presscon, Heart already shot a kissing scene with the Korean actor.

Did she have any qualms of doing the kissing scene with the former U-Kiss member?

Casually, she answered, "Wala, e, work naman yun, e. So kung ikagaganda naman ng show!"

It is also her first time to work with her other leading man, Edgar Allan Guzman, who is cast as her playboy boyfriend in the series.

Heart said about Edgar Allan, "Yes, it's my first time so magandang factor yun.

"Madami siyang mga fans, e, so madaming nako-confuse kung ano yung role niya, exciting din!"

In terms of watching K-dramas, Heart admitted that she used to be a fan of the 2004 Korean drama series Full House.

In fact, she was chosen to topbill its GMA-7 adaptation aired in 2009.

According to the Kapuso actress, all K-Drama fans will love their new show.

"And the love story, it's just impeccable."
