GMA-7's daytime drama series Impostora is extended until January 2018.
This was announced when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters visited the set of the Kapuso afternoon series on September 4.
Management decided to extend the show because of high ratings registered by the show, which is topbilled by Kris Bernal. The actress brings life to dual characters named Nimfa and Rosette.
According to its director Albert Langitan, he and the show's creative team already prepared for the extension of the series even before it was announced.
He revealed, "Actually, noong huli kaming nag-meeting ng creatives, nailatag namin hanggang third season.
Homer (Rafael Rosell) already knows that the Rosette (Kris) he is living with is actually Nimfa, an impostor.
OVERTAKING EAT BULAGA. It was reported by PEP.ph last August 31 that Impostora has already taken over Eat Bulaga in the ratings game.
The show placed No. 2 behind Ika-6 Na Utos based on AGB Nielsen Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) ratings from August 2 to 4, 2017.
How did the team feel when they first learned that they ranked higher than the 38-year-old noontime show?
Direk answered, "Siyempre, parang mixed reactions dahil for the longest time, Eat Bulaga talaga yung poste ng GMA sa daytime programming, di ba?
"So parang yung Eat Bulaga, with all due respect, institusyon siya.
The director is also proud that since Impostora aired its pilot episode on July 3, 2017, its ratings are always higher compared to its rival program in ABS-CBN, Pusong Ligaw.
This is the reason why they are trying to take on another challenge.
"Hindi sa pagyayabang pero ever since naman dun sa katapat na programa sa kabilang istasyon, never natalo ang Impostora," said Direk Albert.
"So parang pag nag-uusap-usap kami, naghahanap na kami ng internal challenge na dikitan man lang natin yung Ika-6 Na Utos kasi sobrang successful niya, e.
"So yun yung benchmark.
