ChardGel fans are rejoicing that Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin are officially reunited in one TV show.
Angel and Richard are now part of ABS-CBN's primetime series La Luna Sangre, wherein their respective characters Jacintha and Gilbert/Sandrino are working closely together.
Even though Richard and Angel are now both Kapamilya stars, their loyal supporters won't forget that their love team started in GMA-7's telefantasya Mulawin.
In fact, during her September 7 solo press con for La Luna Sangre, Angel compared Richard then and now: "Kung gaano siya ka-dedicated noon 10 years ago, parang nag-doble pa ngayon."
Let PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) take you to a trip down memory lane with these publicity photos of Angel and Richard from Mulawin that were taken 13 years ago!
In 2004, GMA-7 decided to pair Angel and Richard in their telefantasya titled Mulawin wherein they played the humanoid birds Alwina and Aguiluz, respectively.
However, would you believe that in ChardGel's first TV show, they were actually cast as twins?
It was for the Saturday youth-oriented series Click, wherein they played the roles of Charley (Angel) and Enzo (Richard).
In this photo, Angel and Richard were with their Mulawin co-stars Bianca King, Dennis Trillo, and Karen delos Reyes.
Karen (wearing red sleeveless blouse) and Bianca (wearing winged costume) were their batchmates in Click.
Before Dennis became ChardGel's third wheel in Mulawin, Dennis and Angel were already paired in the 2003 installment of Love to Love titled "Kissing Beauty."
Mulawin also launched Richard Gutierrez as a full-fledged leading man. In his past projects, he played second lead with love team partner Chynna Ortaleza, mainly in Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin (2002), Habang Kapiling Ka (2002-2003), and several installments of Love to Love.
When it was launched in August 2004, Mulawin became a big hit among televiewers.
In fact, former ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio admitted in her book My Journey: The Story of an Unexpected Leader that it was this show that allowed GMA-7 to take the lead from the Kapamilya network in the ratings game.
For this reason, GMA Films decided to do a film sequel titled Mulawin: The Movie that became an entry in the 2005 Metro Manila Film Festival.
Angel and Richard reprised their roles as Alwina and Aguiluz in the movie, which was set months after the original Mulawin ended its run.
Mulawin The Movie was the only MMFF 2005 entry that was Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
Unfortunately, the movie failed to bring home any award during the film fest.
Mulawin was the first and last GMA series that the ChardGel tandem starred in.
However, they were still paired in several movies such as Let The Love Begin (2005), I'll Always Love You (2006), Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di (2006), and The Promise (2007).
Eventually, Richard was paired with different leading ladies while Angel transferred to ABS-CBN.
This 2017, GMA-7 decided to do another sequel of Mulawin titled Mulawin vs. Ravena. It aired its pilot episode last May 22.
ChardGel was still seen in flashbacks using clips from the original series and movie.
Months after the pilot episode of Mulawin vs. Ravena, and ten years after their last movie together, Angel and Richard would see themselves working together again in La Luna Sangre.
They joined the Kathniel love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla in this ABS-CBN primetime series.
In La Luna Sangre's pilot week in June, Angel and Richard shared some scenes together but not as a love team. In fact, they were sworn enemies!
Richard's character Sandrino killed Angel's character Lia and her husband Mateo (played by John Lloyd Cruz).
On September 6, Angel surprised viewers when she returned to the show, now portraying a different character named Jacintha Magsaysay.
During Angel's solo presscon last September 6, she was asked if there's a possibility that the characters of Jacintha and Sandrino will have a romantic involvement with each other.
Angel and Richard are also currently shooting their reunion movie titled Wife, Husband, Wife wherein they will co-star with Angelica Panganiban.
Meanwhile, GMA-7's Mulawin vs. Ravena, which goes head-to-head with La Luna Sangre, will air its final episode this Friday, September 15.
