Zanjoe Marudo earns acting nomination in 45th International Emmys


Zanjoe Marudo is nominated in the 2017 International Emmy Awards for his portrayal of a man who was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. He is cited for the "Anino" episode of ABS-CBN's drama anthology program Maalaala Mo Kaya.

ABS-CBN actor Zanjoe Marudo earns an acting nomination at the 2017 International Emmy Awards.

Zanjoe is in the running for the Best Performance by an Actor award for his portrayal in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).

The episode, which is titled "Anino," is about a family man named Victor (Zanjoe) who opens his house to strangers who fooled him and stole all his money.

After the unfortunate event, Victor gets depression, causing him to experience hallucinations and delusions, such as seeing shadows.

Victor is eventually diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

Zanjoe is competing against three other nominees: Julio Andrade (Um Contra Todos, Brazil), Kennteh Branagh (Wallander, United Kingdom), and Kad Merad (Baron Noir, France).

The winners of the 45th International Emmy Awards will be announced on November 20 in New York.

In 2016, Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria also earned a nomination for her portrayal in the 2015 remake of Pangako Sa 'Yo.

However, she lost to Christiane Paul for Germany's 2015 TV movie Unterm Radar.

TV PATROL NOMINATION. It was also announced that ABS-CBN's primetime newscast TV Patrol is nominated at the 38th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

The flagship newscast program of the Kapamilya network earned a nomination in the News Category for its special coverage about the aftermath of Super Typhoon Lawin in October 2016.

Other features and international networks nominated in the category are: Inside Aleppo - "Battle for Aleppo" (Channel 4 News / ITN, United Kingdom), Jornal Nacional - "The Ryan Lochte Scandal" (Globo Comunicação e Participações S.A., Brazil),  and Le Journal - "Paris/Jaffa - Republican National Convention, Cleveland" (i24NEWS, Israel)

The winners of the news and current affairs categories will be announced on October 5 in New York.
