For its moving mirror dance act, the team of Vhong Navarro emerged as the champion of It's Showtime's Magpasikat Week 2017.
The performance, which explored the themes of isolation, loneliness, and hope, earned a perfect store of 10 from judges director Rory B. Quintos, Marc Logan, Ina Raymundo, Janno Gibbs, and Maricel Soriano.
The group—also composed of Hashtags Nikko Natividad, Tom Doromal, Bugoy Cariño, and Kid Yambao, and GirlTrends Erin Ocampo and Joana Hipolito—won P300,000, which they will donate to their chosen charity.
Coming in second place and winning P200,000 for their charity was the team of Vice Ganda, Jugs Jugueta, and Teddy Corpuz, whose performance included Teddy’s proposal and marriage to his wife. Their team got an average score of 9.8%.
Karylle and Jhong Hilario, meanwhile, placed third and received P100,000 for their musical love story.
During the awarding ceremony that was aired last October 21, it was revealed that the team of Karylle and Jhong got an average score of 9.2%.
While Karylle and Jhong were receiving their prize, Vice Ganda joked, "Buti na lang napalitan ko yung results. Buti napalitan ko."
Team Anne Curtis-Ryan Bang-Nadine Lustre and Team Billy Crawford-Amy Perez-James Reid both received P50,000 as consolation prize.
Before the announcement of the grand winner, Anne pointed out that her team has won in the annual contest for three years already. "Hindi pa ko natatalo!" she exclaimed.
However, Anne's team did not earn a place in the Top 3 this year.
Ryan apologized to Anne by saying, "Napatunayan ko talaga na ako ang malas talaga. Sorry, Ate Anne. Sa lahat ng hosts, ako pa lang hindi naka-place, hindi pa nanalo. Sorry talaga, Ate Anne."
The Kapamilya actress comforted him and called him by his pet name, "Hindi, baby boy, at the end of the day, maganda yung ginawa natin."
Ryan reiterated, "Dahil sa akin, first time mo hindi naka-place."
Anne said with a smile, "Okay lang 'yan."
