Janine Gutierrez renewed her exclusive contract with GMA Network earlier today, October 24.
Present during the contract signing were GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable, SVP for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara (GMAAC), and her talent manager Leo Dominguez.
Janine said in an interview with GMA News, "I'm very blessed and lucky to be signing again to being with GMA, na as I've said nga po, talagang dito na po ako natuto at naalagaan talaga, and I'm so thankful to be spending the next years here."
The Kapuso star took this opportunity to address rumors that she transferred to a rival network.
"Hindi po totoo 'yon. Tsismis lang po siguro iyon. Pero we have always been in talks about the contract. I'm happy na pinagkatiwalaan uli ako ng GMA."
According to the 28-year-old actress, her mother already entrusted her career to Leo Dominguez.
Janine explained, "Pero mama kasi is also very busy, e, as an actress herself. Saka she opened a restaurant recently, so gusto niya talagang tutukan iyon, so that's why she decided to hand me over to Tito Leo and GMA."
Given the choice, Janine would opt to do projects that are "more mature, like rom-com, comedy."
She pointed out that playing a blind woman in the GMA afternoon series Legally Blind has been her most challenging role so far.
"Yung Legally Blind po talaga yung pinakamahirap na nagawa ko sa lahat, simula nung umpisa.
"And I hope siguro sunod-sunod na yung mga mas mature na roles and mas matuto ako, which is always naman dito sa GMA na talagang bibigyan ka nila ng mga project na talagang makakabuti sa iyo bilang artista."
The daughter of Lotlot de Leon and Ramon Christopher admits she feels pressure following in the footsteps of her parents.
"I feel the pressure po, but of course I want to make them proud."
When asked about her dream role, in an interview with GMA News Online, Janine said she wants to star in a remake of Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider in the future.
Janine is part of the upcoming horror film Spirit of the Glass 2: The Haunted and the digital series titled Unbroken Hearts.
