Did you know that before Kris Bernal won as the other half of GMA-7's StarStruck IV: The Next Level's Ultimate Loveteam, she tried her luck in ABS-CBN's Pinoy Big Brother?
The Impostora actress revealed this during her PEP Talk Live session with Rocco Nacino earlier today, January 30.
In the previous branch of her food business MEATKris, Kris had a photo of her attending ABS-CBN workshops in 2003.
Of this, Kris said, "Kasi ever since as in bata pa ako, gusto ko na talaga mag artista. As in ginagaya ko si Miss Judy Ann Santos, si Miss Iza Calzado, yung mga idol ko talaga 'yan.
"Ako yung parang pag may nagtetaping nga malapit sa bahay namin, daan ako ng daan, e, kasi nagpapansin ako! Feel ko madi-discover ako.
"So nagworkshop ako sa ABS nun kasi after daw pwede ka mabigyan ng project, ayun. Tapos before din sumali din ako dati sa PBB nila. Pero nanalo ako sa StarStruck!"
In 2006, Kris won the Ultimate Loveteam title along with former Kapuso Aljur Abrenica. They became a love team for more than six years.
Aside from joining other reality shows, Kris also used to be a talent in movies.
She recalled, "Naging talent pa ako, ha. As in naghihintay ako ng buong araw tapos naghihintay ako sa tabi-tabi tapos walang standby area tapos yung food mo, portion lang din, so naranasan ko talaga lahat yun dahil gusto ko maging artista!
"Kaya yung mga talent na nag-e-extra sa mga shows ko, feel ko ang lapit-lapit ko sa kanila kasi alam ko yung feeling na, 'Shocks, moment ko 'to kahit isa lang yung linya ko, kahit dumaan lang ako.' Naranasan ko 'yan!
"[Sa] movies nila Vic Sotto. Kunyari, yung birthday party ng bata, talagang talent lang."
KRIS VS. ALJUR IN TIMESLOT. Kris's afternoon teleserye Impostora is about to end in two weeks' time.
The series, which has been running since June 2017, earned high ratings throughout its eight-month run.
In January 2018, Impostora started going head-to-head against a new ABS-CBN show called Asintado starting Julia Montes, Shaina Magdayao, her Starstruck batchmate Paulo Avelino, and her former onscreen partner Aljur.
Coincidentally, Paulo used to be the third wheel to Kris and Aljur in two teleseryes: Sine Novela: Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin (2009) and All My Life (2009).
Meanwhile, Kris and Aljur, whose love team is dubbed as AlKris, worked together in shows such as Boys Nxt Door (2007), Zaido: Pulis Pangakalawakan (2007), Dyesebel (2008), Luna Mystika (2008), The Last Prince (2010), Machete (2011), and Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko (2013).
They also did two movies: Loving You (2007) and Nandito Ako: Nagmamahal Sa 'Yo (2009).
How does Kris feel that after nine years, her show is now competing against her former love team partner?
The Kapuso actress answered, "Sa akin kasi, sabay kaming lumaki, e. Kumbaga, sabay naming pinaghirapan kung ano yung naabot namin ngayon.
"So hindi ako competitive sa kanya, hindi ko nakikitang kalaban. I'm more of being supportive pa rin sa kanya, e.
"Noong nag-transfer siya, actually, nakita ko pa siya and parang kinongratulate ko pa siya and happy ako sa decisions niya, sa nangyayari sa buhay niya, kasi alam kong kung saan kami galing as a love team, pinaghirapan namin yun individually, e."
It was in June 2017 when Aljur transferred to ABS-CBN.
Meanwhile, Kris's teleserye Impostora will end on February 9, 2018.
