Geoff Eigenman says he has no exclusive contract with GMA-7, but he appreciates the fact that Kapuso network has always entrusted him with good TV projects.

Geoff Eigenmann is back as a Kapuso.

The 32-year-old Geoff has returned to GMA-7 via the new afternoon drama series Contessa, which will start airing on March 19.

Speaking to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), he said, “I am happy to be back.

“I consider it a privilege to be working with GMA all the time.

“I don’t sing, I don’t dance. Acting lang nagagawa ko talaga. So every time I get the chance to do it, ang saya ng feeling, kumbaga outlet din siya.”

Geoff’s last acting stint was for ABS-CBN’s prime-time series La Luna Sangre and the defunct series Be My Lady in 2016.

When asked about his decision to switch networks, Geoff explained that he has been working freelance for quite some time now.

“I was never really under contract with ABS-CBN or with GMA now even. A project has been offered, maganda naman, and it helps. So, why not?”

Does he have a preferred TV network?

Geoff answered, “I’ve been with GMA longer. Mas matagal kong ginawa kong show dito, mas naging sunud-sunod yung projects ko dito.”

It was in GMA where Geoff was given lead roles in a number of TV shows including Forever, Rosalinda, Mars Ravelo's Basahang Ginto, and Grazilda.

WORKING FREELANCE. He admiited that he doesn’t mind having a program contract for each TV project that he does rather than go for an exclusive deal with a particular network.

“May pros and cons with either way. I guess siyempre pag exclusive ka, mas may certainty na may mga gagawin ka and all that.

“But for me, I like the freedom of not being tied down to a network. Mas comfortable ako that way, I suppose. I’m not worried about things like that.

“For me, wherever the opportunity is, wherever the challenge is, whoever wants me to be with them, I’ll go with them.”

PEP interviewed Geoff after the presscon of Contessa, which was held at the 17th floor of GMA Network Center last March 5.

As an actor, Geoff said he doesn’t have a hard time adjusting to working with co-stars from either GMA-7 or ABS-CBN.

“With me, walang pagbabago. Quiet lang talaga ako, e. If you don’t talk to me, I won’t talk back.

“But I’m comfortable with the people I’ve worked with. So kung kilala ko yung mga tao, comfortable ako sa kanila.

“Kung new people, kapa-kapa sa first few days. Pero once you get to know each other, wala naman talagang difference.

“Ang only difference I guess is with how both networks work. But me, I’m the same.”

REUNION WITH GLAIZA. Now that he’s back in GMA-7, Geoff is thrilled to be working again with Glaiza de Castro, whom he first worked with in the fantasy-romance series Grazilda in 2010.

Their previous teamup, according to Geoff, makes it easier for them to gel on the set of Contessa.

“There are times on set na makikita mo si Glaiza na nakasimangot, into the role na, feel na feel na niya yung mangyayari sa eksena.

“Ako, alam ko when she needs space already and all that. When she needs help, I offer her a hand din naman.

“Happy ako na nakatrabaho ko siya ulit. She’s one of my favorite leading ladies na nakatrabaho ko.

“Sobrang professional, sobrang dali, walang reklamo, so that’s good.”

In Contessa, Geoff plays the role of Gabriel Caballero, a successful OFW who immediately returns home upon learning the news about his brother Marco's murder.

Marco, who's played by Mark Herras, was shot dead on his wedding day with Bea, played by Glaiza.

How far will Geoff go in his family's pursuit of justice for his brother's death?
