Odette Khan is full of gratitude for getting her first acting awards after four decades in showbiz.
She received the Movie Supporting Actress of the Year award for Bar Boys in the recently held Star Awards for Movies organized by the Philippine Movie Press Club.
“Heaven. Like I said, taos puso akong nagpapasalamat sa recognition.
“I'll treasure it as long as I live, and I mean it,” the veteran actress told entertainment reporters during the press conference of Ang Forever Ko'y Ikaw last Thursday, March 1.
She continued, “I've been here for 40 plus years, hindi pa siya nangyari.
“Sa napakaraming artista, napakaraming writers and reporters, lahat tayo nag-trabaho nang todo-todo, okay?
“Kapag oras mo, oras mo.
“Sa akin na yun dahil nasungkit ko talaga.
“Salamat sa inyong lahat talaga, pinaghirapan ninyo, lalo nang pinaghirapan ko.”
The popular kontrabida jokingly added, “The wait is over. It's mine, no one can take it. Thank you.”
NEW ROLE. Odette usually brings fear through her kontrabida roles such as in Bar Boys. For a change, she gained sympathy among avid viewers of the hit afternoon drama Ika-6 Na Utos for portraying the meek Manang Loleng.
However, after playing a goody-goody role for almost a year, Odette couldn't help but miss playing a kontrabida.
“Nami-miss ko na. Hirap na hirap ako sa role na mabait. Pero happy ako sa Ika-6, natural 'yon, e,” she said.
This is why she's excited for her new role in GMA-7's new daytime series Ang Forever Ko'y Ikaw.
She will be the terror mother-in-law of Camille Prats in this romantic teleserye.
“No acting involved, ako 'to,” Odette proudly said.
“Ayaw ko rito sa daughter-in-law ko.
“Tingnan mo ang personality ko rito, tadtad-tadtad [ng mga alahas], ganun.”
She might look fierce in front of the cameras but Odette is well-loved off-cam by her co-actors.
In fact, Camille said about her, “Si Tita Odette mahal na mahal po namin 'yan.
“Sa eksena lang po siya ganyan. Minsan nga po nagpipigil pa kami ng tawa.”
Watch Odette as she returns to playing a kontrabida role in Ang Forever Ko'y Ikaw beginning March 12 before Eat Bulaga! on GMA-7.
