Mornings become a little brighter with Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw, a lighthearted TV series on GMA-7 that airs before Eat Bulaga.

Clocking in at around 30 minutes, it features Camille Prats and former character actor Neil Ryan Sese, who finds himself “promoted” for the first time to hunky leading man status in this charming new show.

The pilot episode that aired on March 12 started with a scene straight out of the short story May Day Eve: Ginny Peche (Camille) stands right in front of a mirror holding a lighted candle, asking spirits for the identity of the man who will become her “forever.”

Fast forward a few years later and she enjoys a blissful relationship with husband Mario Capurian (Arthur Solinap).

Meanwhile, Lance Reyes (Neil) is the devoted partner of his gorgeous significant other, played by Aubrey Miles.

One day, he serves her with a heart-shaped pancake, which has an engagement ring embedded within it. Lance proposes, and his girlfriend grudgingly accepts.

On the other hand, Ginny and her children call Mario to greet him a happy birthday. The latter enigmatically tells his wife to meet him for dinner, and Ginny obliges.

A few minutes after arriving at the restaurant (where Lance is also waiting), a mysterious fortuneteller approaches Ginny and tells her that her “forever” will soon arrive.

The same pseudo fortuneteller suddenly appears by Lance’s side to give him a bracelet, telling him that whoever wears the trinket is his “forever.”

Lance takes the jewelry, and tells her that it probably belongs to his fiancée, who was meeting him for dinner.

Both Ginny and Lance’s lives take a tragic turn when Ginny receives a call telling her that her husband had an accident.

For his part, Lance gets a breakup message from his fiancée on his phone.

Mario dies in the hospital, making a young widow out of Ginny.

Lance drowns his sorrows with alcohol, although his best friend Maoy (Archie Alemania) seems more devastated by the break up, spiraling into hysteria and ranting about Lance’s fate.

The pilot episode ends when Lance and Ginny’s life miraculously intersect once again when Lance and Maoy’s car breakdown on the way to see a potential client.

Miraculously, they end up right where the hearse carrying Mario’s body stalls.

Gleeful at the sight of a stalled hearse, Maoy convinces Lance to throw a jar of coins to Mario’s coffin, believing that doing so brings good fortune.

Lance relents in spite of his skepticism, and throws coins at the black limo, hitting Ginny square in the face.

AGB RATINGS. How did Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw fare in the ratings game based on AGB Nielsen data?
