Devon Seron said she was still with ABS-CBN when she was cast as one of the leading ladies in the upcoming movie Walwal.
Her transfer to GMA-7 did not affect her inclusion in the film since she had a smooth transition in terms of changing managers.
From being a Star Magic talent since 2010, Devon is now being managed by GMA Artist Center.
She explained, "Nasa ABS pa po ako that time. Pinaplano pa po [yung paglipat] noong nag-storycon.
"Before po mag-shooting, doon na po ako lumipat ng GMA."
Devon is happy to say that no bridges were burned when she made her transfer, which is why her projects outside television were not affected.
"Hindi naman po, actually parang wala lang din.
"Maayos naman yung relationship ko sa ABS and sa GMA, so wala namang hard feelings.
"Okay pa rin yung pasahan ng schedules and all, so hindi naman ako nahirapan."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment bloggers spoke to Devon on the set of Walwal last April 24 at URBN Bar in Quezon City.
The movie produced by Regal Films is top-billed by Kapamilya actors Elmo Magalona, Donny Pangilinan, Jerome Ponce, and Kapuso actor Kiko Estrada.
HOW IS SHE WITH GMA-7? Devon surprised viewers when she appeared in a March 2018 episode of The One That Got Away.
Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent arm, confirmed to PEP.ph back then that Devon asked permission to leave the Kapamilya network last February 16.
PEP.ph asked her during the interview: What made her transfer to GMA-7 after being with ABS-CBN for 8 years?
She said, "Actually, matagal ko na siyang pinag-iisipan.
"Last year pa ako nagpaalam sa handler ko, parang pinag-uusapan pa lang namin and then yun nga, sinuportahan naman niya ako, tinulungan niya ako na mag-isip, mag-decide.
"Kasi for me, I need to take risks talaga when it comes to this, para may panibago naman, panibagong challenge for me as an actress.
"Gusto ko talagang makatrabaho yung mga iba't ibang artista and parang pangarap ko talaga siya.
"Marami rin ako gusto makatrabaho na ibang artista so I take it as a challenge."
So far, how is she doing in her two months of being a Kapuso?
The 24-year-old actress answered, "Okay naman, okay naman po. Naka ilang guestings na rin po ako doon and yung feeling na naninibago ulit ako.
"Nangangapa ako sa mga ginagawa ko kasi may mga ibang ways sila na dahil sa tagal ko sa ABS, parang nanibago ako, feeling ko baguhan ulit ako.
"Yun yung challenge na ino-overcome ko ngayon. Excited ako sa mga darating pa po sa akin."
For her scene in The One That Got Away, she was with former Kapamilya Ivan Dorschner, who was her housemate in Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash of 2010.
What was Ivan's reaction after finding out that they are now both in GMA-7?
"Nagulat nga din po siya noong nasa taping ako kasi biglaan din po yung guesting ko doon!"
Aside from Ivan, Devon has also seen former Kapamilya stars who are now with the Kapuso station.
"Sila Jason Abalos, kinongratulate niya talaga ako and may mga iba ding friends na na-shock ako, nagkagulatan kami noong magkita kami sa GMA.
"Si Alyana Asistio, nagkasama pa kami the whole day noong guesting namin so nagchikahan na kami about doon. Ang dami ko nga nakakasalubong, parang, oh my gosh, at least nababawasan yung kaba ko."
KIKO ESTRADA. For the movie Walwal, Devon is paired with Kiko Estrada, who was also with the Kapamilya network for quite some time.
In fact, the two worked together in 2012 via Angelito: Bagong Yugto. Back then, they were not yet paired with each other.
In 2017, Devon and Kiko had a chance to work again, this time as a love team, in the horror flick Pwera Usog.
How does she feel that fans are clamoring for their team-up dubbed as #DevKi?
Devon pointed out, "Siguro nakikitaan nila yung chemistry namin. Close naman po kami kasi matagal kaming nagkasama sa Pwera Usog.
"So okay yung bonding namin, okay yung chemistry namin, nasasabihan na natural kaming dalawa kapag nasa scene."
In fact, their characters in Walwal, which opens on June 27, have characteristics that are similar to their relationship in real life.
"Kasi kami ni Kiko, mahilig kasi kami, kung ano yung character namin, medyo similar siya sa totoong buhay.
"Kasi yung character ko, hindi ako yung pakikay, yung maarte.
"Ako yung nambabara sa kanya minsan, medyo palaban yung character ko dito. So ganun din kami sa totoong buhay, parang nagkukulitan."
Now that they are with the same network, does Devon see the possibility of being paired with Kiko for a TV project?
"Sana, in the near future, baka mabigyan ng project together bilang matagal na rin naman kaming magkakilala."
