GMA-7 writer Suzette Doctolero defended the GMA-7 program The Cure against those saying that it copied the Hollywood series The Walking Dead.

GMA writer and creative consultant for drama Suzette Doctolero defended the network's teleserye The Cure against those saying that it is an imitation of the U.S. series The Walking Dead.

In a Facebook post last May 14, Doctolero responded to those accusing local TV shows of being mere imitations of Hollywood programs.

She wrote, "Adaptation, inspirasyon, o kopya?

She then recalled an incident in 2016 when Alyas Robin Hood, a defunct drama series starring Dingdong Dantes, was accused by netizens that they copied the CW-produced series Arrow.

Doctolero is the concept creator and creative consultant of Alyas Robin Hood.

The Kapuso creative writer also stated in her post that The Cure, which is "binansagang Walking Dead daw," might also be undergoing the same phase as that of Alyas Robin Hood.

Doctolero then voiced out her observation about Filipino viewers who bash local shows while praising foreign-produced programs.

Dyan tayo magaling e.

"Pag dayuhan ang gumawa, todo praise. Pag pinoy, kahit di napanood, mema agad na kopya.

"(Note: wag mag judge kungdi napanood. Kung gusto mong magsalita against it, panoorin muna.)"

Doctolero enumerated some movies and films that had the same theme as other bodies of work, such as Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, and the Pinoy indie film Zombadings: Shokot Si Remington.

She also took note of the works of Mr. Rolando Tinio, the National artist for Theater who adapts foreign plays to the Filipino language.

She then said, "Kung ganyan, e, wala na tayong bagong kwento, pelikula na magagawa ngayon, ano ba.

In the end, Doctolero wishes that more viewers will give The Cure a chance.

Doctolero is currently part of the prime-time series Kambal Karibal and the daytime teleserye Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka.

She clarified in the post that she is not part of the writing team of The Cure, which is helmed by GMA writer Dode Cruz, and directed by Mark Reyes.
