ABS-CBN actor McCoy de Leon is proud of his love team partner Elisse Joson's first solo project as lead actress.
Elisse currently top-bills Wansapantaym's latest installment titled "Ofishially Yours." She co-headlines this project with members of Boyband PH: Joao Constancia, Ford Valencia, Niel Murillo, Russell Reyes, and Tristan Ramirez.
According to McCoy, he is happy that Elisse is able to show her acting talent in Wansapanataym.
He said, "Masaya, positive sa ngayon, e, kasi pwede niyang ipakita yung pwede niyang mapakita sa iba na walang love team.
"Happy naman ako dito sa mga natatanggap namin and proud kami sa isa't isa."
Elisse revealed how McCoy supported her even though they are not together in the TV series.
"Si McCoy naman, sobrang supportive niya pagdating sa mga nangyayari.
"Siya rin yung nag-a-advice kasi siyempre nagkaroon na siyang ng Wansapanataym dati so binibigyan niya ako, lagi kaming nag-uusap, lagi siyang nagbibigay sa akin kung anong dapat gawin.
"First time ko mag-Wansapanataym and masaya ako na nabigyan ng chance, na magkaroon ng chance na mas matuto pa, mas mahasa."
When McCoy and Elisse temporarily left the Pinoy Big Brother house in September 2016, McCoy did his own Wansapantaym episode titled "Tikboyong."
While Elisse admitted that there were McLisse fans who were disappointed that they were not together in the series, most of them continued to show support for their individual projects.
The 22-year-old actress pointed out, "Actually, parang nagulat sila, iba-iba yung natanggap na feedback.
"Pero sabi ko nga, kung sino man yung susuporta sa amin sa bawat na-a-achieve namin, mapa-love team man siya na project or individual project, thankful kami.
"Siyempre, mamahalin din namin sila and ibibigay namin lagi yung best namin para sa kanila kasi sila yung nandiyan na tanggap kami kung ano man mangyari."
McCoy is set to top-bill an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya to be shown this Saturday, June 2.
McCoy said about the episode, "Meron po akong MMK with Marlo [Mortel] at saka kasama si Claire Ruiz.
"Tungkol sa sakit na matindi na ngayon lang natin madidiscover na meron palang ganun."
According to the teaser, the episode of MMK depicts story of a family whose male family members get diagnosed with X-Linked Dystonia Parkinsonism (XDP) one by one.
McCoy's character has yet to manifest the symptoms of XDP, but he is getting discouraged, thinking that he might not be able to raise his own family when he gets diagnosed with this illness.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) spoke to McCoy and Elisse at the sidelights of So Connected's premiere night at SM Megamall Cinema 7.
FIRST MOVIE. Despite working on separate projects on television, McCoy and Elisse will be seen together for their first movie project.
The still-untitled movie, which is helmed by I'm Drunk I Love You director JP Habac, is produced by Quantum Films.
Elisse said about this, "Yun naman din po, happy kami na bukod sa binibigyan kami ng projects individually, meron din kaming projects na magkasama which makes us happy kasi siyempre, doon naman din, masaya kami na nakakapagtrabaho kami together.
"So yun is another thing, as a love team naman, na mag-level up."
Do they feel any pressure about getting their first big screen project as the McLisse love team?
McCoy admitted, "Ay, oo naman, kasi siyempre first time namin as lead talaga.
"Kaya sa amin, pinag-iigihan namin and sobrang laki ng paghahanda, at saka yung mga ups and downs din namin sa movie na ito kaya sana maging worth it.
"Siyempre sa mga tumulong samin, sa Quantum, sa Star Cinema, kay Direk JP, sobrang thankful kami."
According to Elisse, the movie has three remaining shooting days, and is scheduled to be shown "very soon na po."
Joining McLisse in the movie are Paulo Angeles, Milo Elmido, Jr., Chai Fonacier, Markus Paterson, and veteran actor Bembol Roco.
