Two girls have left the Top 7 of the Filipino idol group MNL48.
Trixie Tano and Zen Inot announced their decision to leave the group on June 8, five days after holding the first Fan Meet of MNL48 First Generation.
They were supposed to go to Japan to train with AKS, the talent agency managing the Japanese idol group AKB48. This was supposed to be their prize for making it to the Top 7.
Trixie explained that she decided to focus on her studies after learning that she will not be graduating from Grade 12 this year.
Zen Inot revealed that she has been wanting to leave the group for some time now due to homesickness. She also admitted that she was having difficulty coping with the training of the group.
She said she learned to be independnt while being part of the all-girl group.
"Ako lang po mag-isa," she said before shedding tears.
Ella Amat and Ashley Garcia will replace them in the Top 7. They were previously part of the Top 16.
Two other members, Mae Batocael and Vanessa Yap, also quit MNL48. As a result, Alyssa Garcia and Erica Sanico were chosen to take their place.
Earlier today, on the June 9 episode of It's Showtime, the members of MNL48 performed Tagalized versions of AKB48 hit songs. The Japanese idol group AKB48 is the sister group of MNL48.
