PBB executive on Maine not making it to ABS-CBN show: "Hindi yun kawalan sa amin."

ABS-CBN executive Lauren Dyogi (not in photo) admits, "Nanghinayang ako kay Maine [Mendoza] pero without Alden [Richards], we don't know if Maine will work sa PBB lang."

After 13 years, there are still those doubting the authenticity of ABS-CBN's Pinoy Big Brother.

To counter this perception about the reality TV show, Direk Lauren Dyogi uploaded a vlog entry on July 3 wherein he directly addressed those who believe that PBB is scripted.

Direk Lauren used to be the business unit head of Pinoy Big Brother before he was promoted as ABS-CBN's TV Production head in 2013.

He recalled how Maine Mendoza tried out for PBB:737, the 2015 edition wherein Miho Nishida and Jimboy Martin were declared as winners.

A video of Maine was shown wherein she could be seen dancing with other aspiring housemates.

The same video also showed that Zeus Collins was in the same batch when Maine auditioned. Zeus is currently part of the Hashtags all-male group of It's Showtime.

Direk Lauren then admitted:

"Nanghinayang ako kay Maine pero without Alden, we don't know if Maine will work sa PBB lang.

"E, nag-work yung Maine and Alden sa Eat Bulaga."

Alden Richards is the GMA-7 actor who became the other half of the phenomenal AlDub love team.

Their split-screen romance started on Eat Bulaga on July 16, 2015, the same year when Maine auditioned for PBB.

Since Maine became a household name because of her connection with Alden, Direk Lauren believes it was Maine's fate to meet the Kapuso actor.

"Yun ang kapalaran niya. Hindi yun kawalan sa amin.

"Hindi talaga kami ang tamang paraan para sa kasikatan niya.

"I'm very, very happy for Maine."

How did Maine end up auditioning for PBB?

"Actually, hindi naman pumila si Maine," disclosed the PBB executive.

"Si Maine na-scout 'yan ni Marcus [PBB staff] kasi sikat na siya sa Dubsmash sa Internet noon.

"E, hindi pa ako into digital at that time. Hindi pa ako naka-latch on sa strength ng digital noon.

"Mas feeling ko, dun pa sa pumipila sa cattle call ang panggagalingan ng housemates.

"Marcus felt Maine would be interesting to be a housemate. So maling call ko yun.

"Hindi yun pila. Pinapunta siya sa PBB court. In a way, parang special screening na si Maine noon."

Given the long and tedious process of conducting auditions, Direk Lauren pointed out, "Mahirap talaga humanap ng housemate."

IS PBB SCRIPTED? In the description of his video, Direk Lauren wrote: "There have been a lot of comments about PBB being scripted, na may managers or backers na. Useless ang Starhunt auditions, and I think these are unfair statements. This vlog features a conversation between me and Raymond about these topics and more.

"We also talk about Joshua Garcia, Jameson Blake, Maymay, Edward, Kim Chiu and other controversial people and issues."

Raymond refers to ABS-CBN business unit head Raymond Dizon who now heads PBB.

Direk Lauren defended themselves by saying, "Sa mga nagsasabi na scripted ang PBB, it's an unfair statement."

The Kapamilya executive admitted, "Masakit din 'yong mga comments and I think a lot of the comments, a lot of them are unfair.

"Hindi minsan nakikita 'yong oras behind the scenes bago mag-audition, 'yong oras at 'yong energy at 'yong effort na inuukol ng mga tao namin."

He later added that they could not have manipulated the housemates to fall in love with each other while inside Bahay ni Kuya.

"Sa mga nagsasabi na scripted ang PBB, sobrang galing naman namin as a director and writer para ma-script namin na magkakagustuhan ang mga tao na ito.

"Hindi namin maiisip ang mga bagay na 'yan.

"Nalalaman na lang namin 'yan sa unang araw na magtagpo-tagpo ang mga housemates.

"Kasi pag nakapili na kami from the shortlist at final casting with management, hindi nagkikita-kita ang mga housemates."
