LOOK: Alden and Maine have sweet moments off-cam during Eat Bulaga 4.0

Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza are part of a bigger celebration, as Eat Bulaga!, the noontime variety show where the AlDub love team was formed, is celebrating its 40th anniversary today, July 7, 2018 .

Maine, a.k.a. Yaya Dub, will also get a tribute as she celebrates her showbiz anniversary.

It can be remembered that Maine first appeared as the character Yaya Dub (short for the video messaging application Dubsmash) in the Eat Bulaga! sketch segment “Kalyeserye,” on July 4, 2015. Shortly after that, on July 16, 2015, Yaya Dub was paired with Alden in a scene that triggered their split-screen romance. And the rest, they say, is history.

To pay tribute to that fated moment, Alden and Maine both wore a white shirt with the date 2015, in red, written on it.

The rest of the Eat Bulaga! hosts, called Dabarkads, wore a shirt with the year in which they joined the variety show. The show’s youngest host, Baeby Baste (real name, Sebastian Benedict Granfon Arumpac), also known as “AlDub’s baby,” also wore a shirt with 2015 written on it. As of press time, the hashtag, #ALDUBMasarapSaPananghalian is currently the top trending topic on Twitter.

Maine is also going to have a special showbiz anniversary celebration, tomorrow, July 8. The celebration, called, Mainelandia 2018: A Unity Fun Fair, will be held at Circuit Makati event grounds, Makati City, from 8 a..m to 11 p.m. According to the event’s official poster, all proceeds from the fair will go to a chosen charity and Maine’s project, “Humans of Barangay.”
