Angelica Panganiban admitted that she deliberately chose to take on a lighter project for television.
Before she became the lead actress of the new ABS-CBN series Playhouse, Angelica was announced to be part of Asintado, which was previously titled Victims of Love.
She was then replaced by Shaina Magdayao.
During the Q&A at the September 12 presscon of Playhouse at Dolphy Theater, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Angelica why she decided to do this instead of the other series.
Angelica's previous projects where she played the lead were usually aired on prime-time.
Did she have any apprehensions when she learned that Playhouse will be aired on a daytime slot?
Angelica admitted she felt even more nervous when management considered putting Playhouse in the prime-time block.
Playhouse is set to air on Monday, September 17, before It's Showtime on ABS-CBN's PrimeTanghali block.
FIRST TIME WITH ZANJOE MARUDO
In Playhouse, Angelica is paired with Zanjoe Marudo.
They play the married couple Patty and Marlon whose relationship is on the rocks.
Patty later decides to have their marriage annulled.
However, they are forced to stay together when they were assigned to take care of an orphaned child.
While they were able to work with each other in movies, this is the first time that Angelica and Zanjoe are paired for a TV project.
Angelica said about this, "Noong umpisa, mas matagal yung taping dahil mas inaalalayan kami ni Direk [Jeffrey Jeturian], mas ulit-ulit dahil pare-parehas namin silang kinilala, e.
At present, Zanjoe said that they have already gotten over that stage.
Aside from Angelica and Zanjoe, Playhouse also features the love team of Kisses Delavin and Donny Pangilinan.
Playhouse is from the makers of the hit light daytime series Be Careful With My Heart.
