Marco Gumabao is happy that despite leaving Star Magic, he is still given meaty projects in ABS-CBN.
Marco is cast as one of the leading men in the upcoming Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) series, Los Bastardos.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) yesterday, September 17, at the premiere night of Abay Babes, Marco said that he did not burn bridges with ABS-CBN, which is why he's still able to get projects in the network.
"Yeah, I'd like to think na wala naman silang hard feelings because I left Star Magic naman in a nice way, in a very proper way and I made sure na hindi ako nag-burn ng bridges sa ABS."
"So yun, I think naman, to be cast as part of the five leading men, siguro wala namang bad blood or anything or tampuhan so I'm really happy na ABS gave me another chance to show my talent or to give me an opportunity para maging bida sa isang show."
It was in September 2017 when Marco left Star Magic to transfer to VIVA Artists Agency.
Since then, he became a freelancer, and was able to do guest appearances in GMA-7 shows.
Marco was also cast in the Kapamilya afternoon series Hanggang Saan.
SHEDDING SKIN IN LOS BASTARDOS
In Los Bastardos, which Marco described as "pampainit sa hapon ng mga viewers," the five leading men all went topless for its teaser.
The four other lead actors are Jake Cuenca, Albie Casino, Josh Colet, and Diego Loyzaga.
However, it was only Marco who wore eyeglasses.
When asked about his character, Marco said, "Yung character ko dito hindi siya sobrang maghuhubad-hubad.
"When you look at my character, mukha siyang disente na... yun nga, kasi naka-eyeglasses so yung suot ko, laging nakasuit.
"Pero mare-reveal din dito na hindi rin pala ako... na looks can be deceiving, hindi rin ako good boy as I seem.
"So abangan niyo kung anong magiging plot ng story, kung ano mgiging ugali ng each character."
His leading lady for the show will be Jane Oineza, who already finished her stint in the ongoing PHR installment, Araw Gabi.
Since their series is PHR, viewers are already anticipating that the stars in the show will be doing intimate and love scenes.
Marco said about this, "Oo yun nga, e."
Will Marco and Jane be ready to engage in these kinds of scenes?
The 24-year-old actor answered, "We'll be ready naman, we'll be ready and we took up workshops naman together. Sana pagdating ng time [na yun], maging ready naman kami.
"Actually, napag-usapan nga namin ni Jane, kasi si Jane ang tagal ko na siyang kaibigan, isa siya sa mga una kong nakilala sa showbiz.
"So comfortable naman kami with each other and for sure magiging masaya naman ito."
How is he preparing for the topless scenes in the Kapamilya teleserye?
"Work out, diet, the usual na ginagawa ko, maintain na lang ako ng katawan."
The teaser also mentioned that the producers and writers helming Los Bastardos were the same team behind Wildflower, led by Ruel Bayani.
Wildflower is the popular drama series aired from February 2017 to February 2018.
Marco admitted that given this fact, he also feels pressure with the new project.
"Oo naman, kasi siyempre Wildflower is such a big show and a big hit, and yung buong team na yun, sila yung humahawak sa amin now.
"First of all, we know na we're in good hands, yung mga nag-aalaga sa amin dito is very prepared when it comes to shows like this.
"So we're happy and excited at the same time, kasi alam namin na maalagaan kami. RSB baby talaga ako."
More details are yet to be announced for Los Bastardos, which is tentatively scheduled for an October airing in ABS-CBN's afternoon block.
