The latest episode of Pinoy Big Brother Otso moved a lot of people to tears.
The emotional scenes aired on the January 14, 2019 episode had to do with houseguest Marie Carmen Songalia meeting her long-lost mother Eunice.
Marie is not an official housemate. She is in the house because Kuya gave the eight official housemates the task of finding her mother.
After almost a week-long effort from the PBB Otso housemates, a woman named Eunice Vergara answered their call. She agreed to go to the Big Brother house to meet Marie.
Marie was surprised to see her mother in the activity area. She sobbed uncontrollably, which affected all the housemates. Many of them shed tears as well.
The housemates then went to the pool area to let Marie and Eunice have a private talk.
Eunice tried to console Marie by asking for her forgiveness right away, but Marie could not stop crying. In between tears, the 23-year-old Special Star Dreamer told her mother that she never forgot about her.
“Kahit ganun po ang nangyari, hindi naman ho kayo nawawala sa dasal ko. Na balang araw magkikita tayo,” said Marie.
She also asked why she was seemingly abandoned. According to Eunice, she had to leave Marie because she had no heart to confess to her relatives that she was pregnant. Then she lost contact because the person who was supposed to take care of Marie made her sign a contract so she would stay away.
“Wala akong magawa kasi, may pinapirmahan na sila sa akin. Dumede ka rin naman sa akin ng tatlong araw. Dinibdib ko rin yung pagkahiwalay natin,” said Eunice.
But Marie’s adoption did not push through, so she was left with a lesbian couple, who raised her as their own. Marie mentioned that she did not want to hurt the adoptive couple, whom she calls Mama and Papa.
“Napakabuti po nila. Inalagaan ako nila. Pinaramdam nila na kumpleto ako kahit hindi,” she said.
Marie added, “Ayoko silang masaktan. Si Mama at Papa lang ang meron ako na ayokong mawala sa akin. Napakabigat po ng dibdib ko. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang dapat na mararamdaman ko.”
In the end, Eunice could only ask for forgiveness. “Ang hinihiling ko lang naman ay kapatawaran mo ngayon. Kung ikaw man ay iniisip mong pinabayaan kita, hindi kita pinabayaan. Kaso lang ang gusto ay mapaganda ang buhay mo.”
APEY REMEMBERS HER FATHER
In the garden, the housemates said how happy they were to have helped Marie to reunite with her mother.
Apey also mentioned that she was a bit jealous, because she also has a missing relative.
“Sarap ding pakinggan. Twenty-two years. Papa and me. Sobrang saya ko siguro rin. Nainggit ako, sa totoo lang,” Apey admitted.
It can be remembered that when Apey entered the house, the show told viewers that she does not know the identity of her father. Apey’s quest for her long-lost father is also a part of a narrative twist for the show, because her long-lost brother Mark is staying in Camp Star Hunt.
