A mini-reunion was recently hosted by Dawn Zulueta for the many co-hosts of GMA Supershow by the late starmaker German “Kuya Germs” Moreno.
This got us waxing nostalgic.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) looks back at some of the TV show’s hosts who went on to become household names as actresses and singers.
Apart from being a GMA Supershow host, Gretchen Barretto was a movie actress. She was able to do several sexy films, and was tagged as one of the "ST Queens" along with Rita Avila, Cristina Gonzales, and Rina Reyes.
Gretchen also served as witness to the controversial 1994 Manila Film Fest scandal.
She was a host of the short-lived late-night talk show, Show & Tell, along with Boy Abunda. She had to leave the show when she got pregnant with her eldest child, Dominique Cojuangco. She then took a hiatus from doing TV assignments and films, except for occasional guest appearances in TV shows.
In 2010, Gretchen returned to acting via the prime-time series, Magkaribal, alongside Bea Alonzo. She was supposed to top-bill the series with sister Claudine, but the latter transferred to rival network, GMA-7.
Gretchen was also supposed to do the series, Alta, but this project was shelved. Instead, she played a kontrabida in Princess and I. In 2013, she also starred in her first Cinemalaya movie, The Diplomat Hotel.
Gretchen has not done any acting project since then, but she keeps her fans and followers updated via her Instagram account.
Just recently, she was seen having dinner with her sister Claudine, with whom she had a longstanding feud.

In a recent interview with PEP.ph, Jackie Lou revealed that she actually thought of turning down the role in the ABS-CBN soap.
After her Saan Ka Man Naroroon stint, Jackie Lou did projects with GMA-7 as bida and kontrabida.
From 2008-2016, she served as Kuya Germs's co-host in Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman.
