Two housemates were evicted in the February 24, 2019 episode of Pinoy Big Brother Otso.
The victims of the double eviction twist were 19-year-old Wakim Regalado and 29-year-old Mitch Talao.
Both evictees lost the public voting against three other nominated housemates. Wakim’s 7.66% and Mitch’s 4.7% were greatly lower than Fumiya Sankai’s 23.34%, Lou Yanong’s 25.58%, and Yamyam Gucong’s 38.72%.
All five were nominated for eviction in the Saturday, February 23 episode when their teams lost the dance challenges.
Wakim and Mitch had memorable moments in the house. Wakim became popular among viewers because of his nerdy quirks. At times, the Ateneo student had lectured Big Brother and his fellow housemates about scientific and mathematical concepts.
Mitch, meanwhile, is a transgender woman who married her lesbian partner in an unforgettable ceremony inside the PBB house.
NEW HOUSEMATE. Despite the double eviction, only one Star Dreamer from Camp Star Hunt was promoted as an official housemate.
This is because the double eviction was only a way for the show to go back to its initial rule that only eight housemates should be in the house at any time.
It can be recalled that this rule was broken three weeks ago when two-in-one housemates Mark and Apey got split into two, thereby increasing the housemate count to nine.
Wakim and Mitch’s exit then reduced the count to seven, so only one Star Dreamer was allowed to move from Camp Star Hunt. This was Hanie Jarrar, a 19-year-old aspiring basketball player from Isabela.
NEW STAR DREAMER. Hanie’s promotion meant that there was one slot in Camp Star Hunt.
The new Star Dreamer is Mark McMahon. The athlete first entered the spotlight when he became a trainee for the Philippine Azkals when he was 19 years old.
Now, Mark is 27 and has expressed his dreams of succeeding in showbiz. He already appeared as a supporting character in movies such as Bride for Rent, Tween Academy and My Househusband, and on GMA-7 shows such as Karelasyon and Wagas.
FINAL TWIST. Before the adult housemates entered the house, they expected to only stay there for eight weeks, like the teen housemates before them. However, ABS-CBN decided to extend their batch to several more weeks because of the popularity of several housemates.
What will happen when Big Brother reveals to the housemates that they will stay longer inside the house?
Viewers will find out next week.
