Pinoy Big Brother's house will be open once again as the second season of the reality-based TV show starts on February 25. The new season promises newer challenges, stricter house rules, and even "secret missions."
During the February 14 press launch at ABS-CBN's 9501 Restaurant, Lauren Dyogi, the director of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), announced that viewers—through their text votes—can participate in choosing the 14 housemates who will stay in Big Bro's house for 90 days.
Direk Lauren explained, "Nagsimula ang selection namin kasabay ng audition for PDA [Pinoy Dream Academy]. Those that we felt na puwede sa PBB, actually auditioned for PDA. That time din kasi, clueless ang mga nag-a-audition for PDA kung ano ba talaga yung show. The same thing nung time na nagpapa-audition kami for PBB 1, ang tagline lang naman kasi is ‘gusto mo bang sumikat?'" (Chad Peralta, one of the Final 6 of last year's PDA, originally auditioned for PBB.)
On that note, the director stressed out that PBB 2 doesn't promise the housemates stardom or a showbiz career. "But all 14 will be automatically given a one-year showbiz contract by ABS-CBN," said Direk Lauren.
A bigger and newly renovated house has been prepared to accommodate the 14 strangers from different parts of the world, which as of press time is "top secret."
"Marami ang gustong pumasok at makita, pero off-limits muna siya. Ipakikita lang namin sa launch ng show," informed the director.
Toni Gonzaga returns to host the primetime edition, Mariel Rodriguez will be on Uplate again, and Bianca Gonzales hosts the Update. The newest addition to the gang is PBB 1's Jayson Gainza who will give the viewers the freshest and juiciest stories via his new segment "Bahay ni Kuya."
When asked why Jayson was chosen over Nene Tamayo (PBB 1's grand winner) to host the new segment, Direk Lauren said in jest, "Mas mura kasi siya e. Buntis kasi si Nene at delikado sa kalagayan niya yung gagawin ni Jayson."
Asia Agacaoili and Sitti will present the "extended, unseen, and exclusive clips" inside the house on Studio 23.
