Are You The Next Big Star, GMA-7's all original talent search, took off at a promising pace as a fresh breed of superstar hopefuls emerged before the of judges, the jury, and Filipino audiences during its premiere episode last Saturday, May 16.
The Are You The Next Big Star stage lit up as one by one, the semi-finalists showcased big performances much to the delight (or dismay) of the judges, which include vocal coach and founding member of The Company Annie Quintos, musical director and arranger Mon Faustino, '90s pop icon Randy Santiago, record producer, composer and songwriter Danny Tan and concert queen Pops Fernandez.
During the pilot episode, host Regine Velasquez and co-host Keempee de Leon also underscored the innovative features of the competition, which include the participation of the jury, a select group of music experts whose votes correspond to one. Together, the judges' and the jury's votes will determine who among the 150 contestants will make it to the Top 40.
What's more, two winners—1 male and a female—will each bring home a GMA exclusive management contract, a GMA Records recording contract, P1 million in cash from SM Supermalls and other exciting rewards fit for a superstar.
More big performances, along with the announcement of the Top 40 contenders, will come your way as the audition phase continues this coming Saturday on Are You The Next Big Star after Pinoy Records on GMA-7.
