TV specials air back-to-back this Sunday, June 28

Marian Rivera and Mark Anthony Fernandez (top frame) walked down the ramp during the 59th anniversary special of GMA-7. John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo were hailed as the Box Office King and Queen in the 40th Box-Office Entertainment Award. The TV specials will be aired tonight on GMA-7 and ABS-CBN, respectively.

Two special events are airing tonight, June 28, 2009. ABS-CBN will be featuring the 2009 Box Office Entertainment Awards while GMA-7 will be airing its 59th anniversary special.

The 40th edition of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (GMMSFI) awards night honors the kings and queens of the Philippine box office. It was held last June 21 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

Hosted by Bianca Gonzalez and Tirso Cruz III, this event features performances of Gary Valenciano and the all-male singing group You've GotMale (composed of Gian Magdangal, Jan Nieto, Harry Santos, at Bryan Termulo). Box-Office Queen Sarah Geronimo also thrilled audiences when she sang the themesong of her box-office hit movie with John Lloyd Cruz titled A Very Special Love.

One Glamorous Night: Greater and Grateful at 59 heralds the Kapuso Network's almost six decades in the broadcasting industry. The two-hour special highlights a grand parade of Kapuso stars and programs in a flamboyant fashion show held at the Araneta Coliseum last June 19, 2009.

The special delved into the 10 elements of TV (color, moves, style, image, heart, sound, numbers, power, soul, and reach), interpreted through flashy performances, music, choreography, lights and fashion.

It is interesting to note that Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes will be seen in both TV specials airing tonight, June 28. The love team was hailed as the Most Phenomenal Loveteam in the Box Office Entertainment Awards and they performed separately in the GMA-7 anniversary special.

The 40th Guillermo Mendoza Memorial awards night will air on ABS-CBN right after TV Patrol Linggo while GMA-7's 59th anniversary special will air during the SNBO time slot.
